problems after rain?
Ok so here's the deal. After I wash my stewie or after a hard rain...sometimes it won't start right away...it'll just turn over. After giving it some time it'll fire right up. Motor wise, alls that's modded is an intake. What's goin on here, and a way to prevent it?

Was the problem there before the intake swap?

If it's gonna be left out in the rain, r' driven in the rain, n' it's a problem, it might be worth re-installin' the stock set up jus' to see if it solves it.
Obviously, if it's only a fair-weather ride . . . Be well.

sounds like you experienced hydrolock or something. Is this a CAI or a normal intake? AEMs are notorious for hydrolocking.

Not an AEM intake, it's a short ram...if it was hydrolocked, i would assume it would stay that way, not start after a couple min. I am thinking water is just getting somewhere into the ignition

'Godda agree with your diagnosis Soon, but my first suspicions always go to what's been changed. It's too bad that you ain't got some previous "out-inna-rain" experience to gauge it by.

Many short ram intakes such as the AEM will sit in a position right under a drainage hole. When the car is still and is washed or rained upon heavily, the water will drain right onto the intake filter.
There is a small hole you can just tape over to fix this problem. *EDIT* Here is a pic: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php...rain+hole+plug |
