s2000 sound system
I have a 02 spa yellow, its got the stock system in it. I dont wanna spend a lot of money. But I want to put a descent system in it. with one 10" sub. Does anyone know what size speakers I would need? or what brands are good? Thanks - Mike

I think I have a pretty good setup in my 2004 S2000, but I'm sure the components would work in a 2002 also.
Alpine CDA-9856 Deck MBQuart Premium Component Speakers (PCE216) JL 300/4 Amp driving the components JL 10w3v2-D6 Stealthbox Sub-woofer JL 250/1 Amp driving the sub Auxiliary input wired to inside the center console for Portable Audio player The amps are housed within custom enclosured and are mounted in the small spaces on each side of the trunk. The sub is hidden where the tools used to be. The result is a clean, matching look with awesome quality sound. I have pictures if you would like to see. Also, I might actually have a few extra of the above speakers and 300/4 amp if you are interested. They work great, but I think I'm going to take them out of my other car before I sell it. Let me know. Good luck! |

Just remember, even though the door speakers are 5.25", not all 5.25" speakers will fit. You will need what is known as slim-line speakers. I made the mistake of buying some sweet CDT Audio component speakers, only to find out they were way too deep to fit properly. So instead, I mounted them behind the seats, then bought some better proportioned speakers to fit in the doors.
I'm not big on huge stereos, so I can't really recommend any amps or subs. I just have the rear components, new door speakers, and a new head unit, and I can hear everything fine, even with the top down at 80mph.

Actually, the door speakers are 6.5", not 5.25". I didn't need anything out of the ordinary (ie. slimline speakers), but that could be due to the 2004 changes for the S2000 interior. Also, make sure you get everything covered with Dynamat. It makes your system so much better, reduces road noise, and eliminates vibrations and rattles.
