AEM or Injen Cold Air Intake???

I was just wondering which is the better buy. I bought an Injen Intake for my '02 WRX, but i now have an '01 S2000 and was wondering which intake makes more horsepower/torque? I know the Injen is like 10hp and 7 lb/ft, but I dont know about the AEM. I also enjoyed the sound of my Injen intake and was wondering if the AEM makes the same growl. Thanks in advance and if there is a better intake than the two above...let me know.

Thanks,

Keith

I'd go for the injen - it's cheaper and there's no real gains on the AEM (both sound similar on VTEC). Juz my .02C.

intake

Instead of the intake, i would just take off the top of the air box since there is a cone filter inside and then save up for a nice exhaust. Intake in an S2000 doesn't really do much but you will love the sound of your exhaust. I would recomend HKS but thats up to you.

Check out the 4-IG intake, it is an AEM clone ( get you 8-10 hp), Installation/looks/sound are all great for about $135

Hey.. just to clarify your last post snowbebe... HKS Hyper Dual Exhaust on an s2000 is a HORRIBLE CHOICE !... Sounds GREAT ! but... NO GAIN !... it's just the name.. & your little theory about taking the top off your stock air box is bad.. due to that air bow being some type of heat synk shield.. which if you take it off and add more heat into your engine, it was lose the performance you need. Use the $ and buy injen if you want performance, buy AEM if you want sound plus reliability(Air Bypass Valve)... Spugen Exhaust systems, Invidia Exhaust, & Amuse are the BEST... wait... Also comptech... It's up to you.. you used lots of $ for an s2000 dont bullsh*t around and get cheap stuff...

have to disagree!

I have the HKS Hiper exhaust and the AEM CAI and together there is definately an increase in power, especially better driveability. I know my pick up down low in 2nd & 3rd is a lot better.

Plus it SOunds F#@$ing FANTASTIC!!!!!

taking the lid of the airbox not only decreases HP, it makes the stock paper filter vulnerable to anything being pulled up into the engine bay... that's just f'ing stupid.... HKS does not give any real HP gain in comparison to others. Many of my friends have this, and they love the sound, but lost out a little in the HP range for the amount of money they spent. It also doesn't radically reduce the weight, which IMHO, is the greatest performance increase by switching the exhaust. Bottom line, get what you want. Check out the PRM intake as well... many have found it to be great... or comptech... depending on where you live (hydrolock issues) it could become a life or death desicion... I have the Spoon Carbon/Kev. duct, a K&N filter, and the Spoon Throttlebody, and my throttle response has improved immensely, but overall HP is not really "dynoable," being that is really picks up when the car is moving at about 60 miles per hour (sorry, I don't know the exact wind velocity)... Be smart about this, and think about what you really want to accomplish with the car, instead of wasting money on parts you are just going to replace in 6 months... ( I am guilty of this... ) You wanna stay NA, supercharge, or go turbo? this should help you out in your desicion making...

I have a injen intake with a skunk2 exhaust, it sounds nice and performs well. However, I live in an area where there are flash floods all the time this season. The fact the injen intake is so low its not really for me (had a couple close calls). But performance wise its an all around decent intake for the price.

IMO neither, go with boost and stop screwing around. Is 7 WHP really worth $250? I guess to some it is. I did that and then decided to bite the bullet. I wouldn't go back.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
