Service interval

My S2000 was registered in 2000. It has done just over 12000 miles and is now due for its' next service. The car is now out of warranty.

So far we have been following religiously the recommended service schedule. The last service done was the five year service...about 1500 miles ago. The garage is now saying that we need a full service (ie the 6 year one). This includes checking valve clearances and ratchets up the cost quite a lot.

I am wondering whether we should just go with the short service instead.

What should I do?

Second question - does the S2000 have to be serviced by a Honda garage or can independents do a similar/better/cheaper job? If so, can anyone recommend a good service place in either West London or Worcestershire? UK that is

12,000 miles... the dealer is ripping you off. Unless you tracked it for all 12K, you don't need a 6 year service.

If you drive it like a regular street car (just not daily... obviously) AND since you're out of warranty, I would just do the maintenance intervals according to your mileage.
