S2000 buyers tips, newbie.....

Hey folks, I am considering buying a used s2k. It appears and sounds to be in above average condition. The only problem with it is that the drivers side latch om the conv top does not secure the top properly (the hook has a little it of play, causing quite a bit of noise at speed.
Do any of you know how much it is to replace and how much work is involved?
Also, anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance!!

Are you sure that it is just the latch itself?

If the roof isn't sitting properly it will cause the latches to be in the wrong spot, if this is the case then it could be because the roof frame is bent or damaged and will cost a lot to replace the whole lot.

If you are buying the car from a dealer - get the dealer to repair it before you purchase the vehicle.

The roof sits fine. The problem is the hook on the dr's latch has a little bit of play (that is the only part of the latch that is worn) so it's not securing that side of the top all the way down - it's not creating a seal.

It opens and closes fine without any binding or loud motor noises. Any clue as too how much the latch might be?

As to the dealer fixing it, I was able to cut a considerable amount off the car due to that fact alone.
It is a 2000 S2000 with 30k miles and it is in MINT condition, no repaint, no dings, has only one small scratch and the interior is in beautiful shape.

Not too mention it pulls smooth and cleanly.
They are offering it to me for $19.8k Which as far as I have seen in this area is a fantastic dealer price.
