Have 02 Audi A4..should I sell and get a used S2000...(more)

Unbiased opinions please. I'm looking at several S2000's here in the Orlando area with the average milage being between 20-25,000 mile range. Should I be worried. I know the car is considered a race car so people tend to beat them up quite a bit with the clutch wear and the tranny wear being more than usual. Coming from actual S2000 enthusiasts, is this true? Do they get beat up, more so than normal cars, or less. Should I go for it. Tell what I would be getting myself into, aside from the obvious fun factor of the car. Will it be worth it? Thanks guys!

Dammit we will reply when we want to.

Has this car been beat up more than any other car? No I am sure I have seen destruction derby cars beat up a lot more.

Was this car owned by a street drag racer with $100,000 worth of mods done to the car, totally screwed up and then stripped back down to sell to you in some dodgy condition? Was this car owned by a 80 year old grandmother how never used to drive it anywhere but down to the shops and back? Does this car even start?

How the hell are we meant to answer those questions based on a car we have never seen.

Yes some cars no matter what model are driven by bad drivers, yes some cars have problems with their clutch.

If you want to know if the car you are considering buying is in good condition, go and get a mechanical check done on the vehicle.

First off, an Audi A4 is a 50,000$ sedan with a little bit of performance and a ton of creature comforts. Comparing it, or deciding to replace it with a S2000 seems a little strange. They are 2 totally different cars for distinctally different uses. The Audi is infinitally more practical, yet with enough performance to be fun to drive. The S is for pure driving pleasure and top-down 9k rips thru the gears, but alas, not exactly practical. Your question seems odd, and might I add suspect. A person who owns an A4 I doubt would get rid of it for a S, but perhaps buy an S for a summer car. Do you really own an A4??? If you are as young as I think you are, it must cost a fortune in insurance.

I think you may be thinking about the S4. The A4 starts around about $25K. The S4 starts at about $46K.

I also own an A4 TQ/190HP. And an MX5. Trying ro compare an S2000 with the Audi is not a good idea as a deciding factor. The Audi is a fast luxurious sedan that can travel quietly for hours at an average speed of more than 200+ (kilometres that is).

The Audi covers very different needs than the S2K or the mazda.

If you can afford a second car do it, if not, forget it. A two seater sports car is not the ideal everyday commuter. Unless you decided for the Audi by accident, and you don't really need the luxury and practicality.

(I am thinking of replasing the mazda with an S2K. That why I'm visiting this forum)
