2004 S2000 faster then a 350z?

i have a question regarding the 2004 s2, if the 2000+ model s2000 are 240 hp and if its a 50/50 chance of winning the 350z due to the weight of the s2000 ( remember 350 has more hp ), wouldnt the 2004 s2000 be faster then a 350z because of the 260 hp it puts out. many on this forum and others had dyno tests and said the car seems to put out 260 but yea... so thats my question

REGARDING QUARTER MILE TIMES IT PROBABLY IS 50/50, MOST OF THE TIME ITS ALL IN THE LAUNCH. HOWEVER, FEAR NOT MY FRIEND WHILE THE 350Z IS SHIFTING AT 6K YOUR VTEC IS JUST WARMING UP. I SMOKED A REALLY NICE LOOKING Z ABOUT A MONTH AGO.

The 04 s2k is way faster than the 350z!!!! How do I know this.... I have an 04 and I smoked the shiet out of a 350z!!!! I had a car and a half lead on the quarter mile... And all I have is a AEM cold air intake and I launched at 4300 rpm... Don't be fooled s2k are fast with the right driver... All you have to to is launch at 4300rpm and keep it steady... I even I beat 03 WRX with complete HKS air flow and had a car lead.... Lol!!!!

an 04 ap1 isn't putting out anything like 260 stock. don't confuse this. the only gain over the 99-03 cars is a 10tq increase, no HP..... I've beaten many 350s in my 03, the only 50/50 chance is the driver.

Yeah it's all driver. Although the 04 and the 350Z are much easier to drive than the 03

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with the HP, same as far as I know it, but I do know that the tranny is re-done, with closer gears from 1-4 vs. the '03 and below, match that with more torque as the did, and you got a car that is faster off the line.

I'm just moving into this forum formally a Volkswagen driver, and man, you guys are a riot.

I'm not sure where people are getting the info that a '04 puts out 260hp. The best 99% of people can do is dyno for rwhp and broken-in 01-03 S's have averaged 200 hp. Few if any have unbolted their engine and measured crank hp. But, the assumption is that 200 rwhp is consistent with Honda's claim of 240 crank hp.

There have been no dyno charts I've seen of 04s showing significantly more than this. The variation from dyno to dyno (mustang dynos for example) , elevation and other factors can be as much as 10%

I own an S2K and have raced 350Z in stock form and I will never say that the S is hands down a faster car. The cars are about as close in a straight line as one can get.
