Comptech SuperCharger Fuel Shortage Problem

Hey Guys,

I have a Comptech Super Charger on my car '01. Well after driving a while, I come up to a stop sign. My engine then starts to die (but it doesn't) as if it's not getting enough fuel.

I installed a fuel gage monitor to see what's happening when my car is in that condition. I find out that my fuel gage needle was jumping at 50-53 (the normal pressure is 30's). I brought it to the place that installed it and they still don't know what the problem is.

Am I not getting fuel? Or am I getting too much fuel? Is it the supercharger that is causing the problem? Is my engine short of air? Is there any upgrades that I need to make?

I have comptech headers, dual apex exhuast, aem intake...i dont have an inter cooler. Could that be my problem?

Can someone please help me? I love my s2001 and hate to have to sell it.

Please email me @ cvan76@msn.com or reply to this post. I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks!!

In my experience doing a custom turbo setup, this is what I found out. If your not running any fuel management setups you might want to do that, also look into getting a Wide Band AFR Sensor with display. Those two things alone will help you solve any possible fuel problem.

Have you checked your plugs to see if you are rich or lean? Your fuel pressure is ok from what you mentioned, mine varys from 25psi(idle) to 65psi(redline) @ 9 psi.

I dont want to say that there is a vaccum leak, cause the idle on the S2k will vary if your AFR is off by a hair.

Hope this helps

B.

Did you ever figure out what this was?

Did you ever figure out what was going on with this and get it fixed? The reason I ask is because I am having the EXACT same problem with my '00 with the same supercharger and everything. I was able to hook up a diagnostic tool and determine the problem is too much gas... it's running rich and that's causing it to load up on the lower rpms and foul out.

The feedback I've been getting from the dealership I take it to is that the car still has the stock ECU and it needs to be chipped & tuned so that the fuel pressure is correct all the way through the rpm spectrum, but I just wonder if the injectors are going.

How did you solve your problem with this? (Please don't tell me you sold the car!)

FYI: as the problem gets worse, the car eventually becomes undrivable.... it starts dying on idle every single time. Eventually, the check engine light will come on and the car will get to the point where it will not boost at all. At this point, if you take it above 3000 rpms, it drops way down and then bucks violently until you shift and take the rpms back below 3000. Once you reset the ECU, it drives fine for another month, but then the problem reoccurs.
