Rubber block attached to FR Drivers side spring
I just purchased an '02 S2000 (Red w/ solid Black Int, 3340 miles, certified, Mugen Header and Exhaust). My question is: Upon looking at the front suspension more closely, I noticed there is a black rubber block that has notches in it to grab the coils of the suspension spring. However, this is only on the drivers side, not the passenger side. Is this supposed to be there? As you can tell, I have not had a chance to get a shop manual.
Also, do you know what causes a clicking sound to come from the soft top when closed and driving on less that perfect surfaces? Thank you. |

Those black rubber blocks in the springs are for shipping only and should have been removed before sale - remove them or you may find that the car does not handle properly (may cause you to spin out).

Thank you very much for your reply.
Any knowledge of what might be making a "click" sound in the soft top over rough surfaces? I've checked over the whole roof assembly and everything is tight. |

Sometimes the latches on the top can make this sound, these can be adjusted from what I have heard. I'm not real sure on this issue.
Are you sure it is coming from the top? Sometimes it could be something simple from elsewhere (eg the passenger seatbelt hitting the side). |

Going to try and resurect this one...
I have recently noticed 'clicking' noises coming from the roof latches. Can they be adjusted/tightened up? It seems to be coming from two places: 1) The button you push in to release the latch and 2) The latch itself. One solution I guess: take the top down! Any other ideas? Thanks. |

Some people have used black electrical tape around the metal hooks that latch. This gives just a few mm of 'cushion' and quiet them some. Also, you can remove the tape if you don't like it. But, soft tops rattle, it's an unfortunate side-effect. If it's not the latch, you'll hear something else rattle soon enough
-edit: If it's too cold to put the top down, shift to a lower gear. As long as the revs are around 4000 you won't hear too much rattling |
