Windshield frame color
I'm pretty new to the S2k and don't know much about the differences from year to year. One thing I noticed is that some cars have the body color on the windshield frame and some cars don't. Why is that????

The black is tape covering the color of the car. Some people remove the tape so the windshield frame is body colored.

I believe it is. At least it is suppose to be on all the colors except Berlina (for obvious reasons). Someone go and make sure I am correct, now you guys have me thinking I have made a mistake.

Your talkin' like one'a my favorite tee-shirts Go (No. It don't actually talk)
"Once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken". As for your bein' wrong . . . I doubt it, but lemme go take a quick look-see. Wait one. Okay, yeah. I didn't go peelin' back any corners'r anything, but it's got a surface similar to electrician's tape n' overlaps at the upper corners. Your tape explanation flies with me. So, if you've ever passed out any bum scoop, dis ain't it. Be well. Java

Here's a great link from s2katlanta
http://www.s2katlanta.com/forum/showthread.php?t=909 It's a link to a bunch of DIYs. One of them is removing the tape. Apparently, some of the forum members reported scuff marks on the paint after removal, but it was easily polished and waxed out. |

So now all we need is for somebody to try it out. If one of you guys with a silver car will do it, I'll send you some duct tape to cover it up if you damage the paint!!

I definitely want to do it. I think the spa yellow around the windshield completes the look. The only problem is that the DIY suggests a hot day or a hair dryer. Considering the weather right now, I'm more concerned about snow tires.

it's tape, it comes off easily if you use a hairdryer to warm it up before you attempt to remove it and it's applied after the car is painted so it will be the same color as the car...

i have a grand prix white with a hard top, i took mines off in about 20 minutes, came off pretty nicely. What i did was took a blow dryer and blew it at the tape to heat it up and then peel slowly (very slowly), if not then your left with a real sticky material that is very difficult to get off. Oh yeah, do it at your own risk cause for some S there are paint blemishes, if this happens then use rubbing compound mix with elbow grease. good luck you guys. By the way, imo it looks very clean w/o it
