Next generation S2000?
I'm in search of info on the coming year's S2000? Does anyone know or have any leads I can get? Came across this site and can see lots of S2K diehards here. About to buy one and affraid next year's model will have modifications.
Thanks clark |

Yeah the S2000 thus far are only 2.0L. I heard of the coming S2200 model being a coupe not a rag top and it will be powered by a 2.2L. Nice to have but can't convert???? Ughhhhh. That burts.

i don't know about the body size but yeah if the s2000 turns out to be a 2.0 liter engine then it would make it a s2200 just like the j-spec. and with 175 torque and 260 hp i'm guessing around 13.5-13.75 quarter mile time compared to the s2000 14.092

Personally, i'd like to think Honda will remain true to the original design criteria for the car and keep to the same, if not higher, specific output (120 hp/L+) given similar weight and gear ratios I would guess at around 0.2-0.4 seconds down from current s2000's on quarter mile times. |

I have heard rumors that the 2004 S2000 will be a 2.2l and have a lower redline, as well as some other exterior options. Whether any of that is true is anyone's guess; in the nearly 4 years I've had my S2000, I've watched some pretty ridiculous rumors surface, but the 2.2 and lower redline actually makes sense considering all of the complaints to AHM by people who don't understand the purpose behind the car. (These are the same people who complain about the lack of heated seats).
I agree with JDM, but I think, unfortunately, that Honda will cater to the majority with the money rather than the enthusiasts amongst us who understand the reason why the car is the way it is. |

In Car & Driver this month p. 36, they state: 2.2L, Lower redline, same hp, more torque, softer suspension (softer ride), new interior trim, oval pipes

The new ones will be called S2000. and the ones out now are a little 2.0 engine compared to the new 2.2 engine. it wil have 20 more torque and horsepower. and run 13.4-13.6

This had 258 bhp, 162 ft lbs torque and weighed in at 953 kg. Given the rumoured s2200 is likely to have a weight deficit of 500lbs over the mugen, and the mugen was running 13.5 in the quarter mile I think it's a little more realistic to predict a q-mile time of over 14 secs. |

According to Honda's website. The engine is a 2.2L and puts out 240. The only difference is that it has an 8K redline instead of the 9K and it adds 10 more lb/ft of torque. I like the subtle touches. I feel the back bumper is the best modification to the car. It looks nice!!
