Depends. First off, depends on the drivers. Other than that, the WRX will take the S2K on the launch but the S2K will take the WRX in the long run.

Stock for stock, S2000 will pull on the WRX from 50mph on. From stoplight to stoplight (i.e. under 50mph), AWD owns and WRX will hand the S it's ass.

ran my stock s with a stock wrx, highway 80 -100, just playing around, they really are a close team. I think driver will have the advantage. I would love to see them on a track together though. Do not mess with STi , a real bitch. Not much help I know, but thought I would add my two cents... :P

I own both but the WRX is not stock.

Both '04, S-2000 with AEM V2 and Fujitsubo exhaust, WRX with perrin up-pipe, turbo XS turbo back exhaust and UTEC, upgraded suspension and bigger turbo.

Obviously the WRX owns the S-2000 off the line and for a long time after the line. The WRX has so much torque and 4-wd that the S-2000 doesn't stand a chance in a 1/4 mile race.

But the S-2000 is mine and the WRX is mainly my son's. I much prefer driving the S-2000, it is not a beast like the modded WRX but is a very fast and exotic road racing car. I like both cars but love the S-2000.

The nice thing about the WRX is that you can get some amazing hp gains quite easily. That is harder to do with the S-2000 without a turbo or SC. But the S-2000 is such a gas to drive, even my son admits that. And the style! In fact he borrowed my S-2000 to impress his date tonight. And given the time he better et home soon!

you can't compare a turbocharge against a NA. Especially when the different in the price is so high 24K vs. 32K. If it speed you want why get an S2, that doesn't mean the s2 is slow, but if it look is what you want S2 look better than sti or evo.
but yeah wrx will beat the s2 on the short run, which is what most street racing is at.

Faster or More Fun

If you are only in it for speed, just buy a ton of mods for anything. If you want a four door AWD buy the WRX. If you want a true 2-door roadster with the wind in your hair, get the S2000. The S2000 is hands down a better looking car. People give the S2000 a look, when they don't with the WRX.

I normally dont interject in these kind of threads but i really need to here, there is a huge myth about the WRX eating S2's off the line.... im sorry... nothing personal... but completely false, before i went turbo... all i had was an AEM intake CF hood and injectors(only so i didnt run lean), This punk ass kid at a party was talking all kinds of **** about S2's, saying "oh they're slow" and how his car eats them... stupid ****... so i layed down $300 saying that off the light id beat him in a quarter... he gladly accepted... and lost. The launch was pretty close... he had me by 1/2 a car, by the end of 2nd( which is 62mph) i had Him by half a car... and continued walking him from there.... Remember, this was only a WRX... not an STI, STI's are amazing cars that S2000's could never touch with equal modifications but theres my 2 cents... WRX's are easily beatable.... if u know how to launch..

agreed stock wrx's should be no problem at all in a quarter mile scenario. Why you think the s2000 launches as good as a wrx I dont get at all. Ya if the wrx driver doesnt have a clue how to launch the s could look like it launches just as well. But 4 vs 2 isnt much of a contest unless youre running a tubbed out fox body

S2's dont launch AS well, but they arent too far behind and by third gear (or halfway through 3rd on stocks) u should be passing them

I test drove a 2005 WRX up Decker Rd. which is a very fun canyon road that takes you to the beach and I was impressed (my first time in an all wheel drive car). Mind you I hadn't driven the S2000 yet, and it would actually be about a year later that I did, but the things I remember are all the body roll in the WRX and how the shifter felt like it was gonna break, pretty much the opposite of the Honda. It did have good power but that wasn't enough to make up for how cheap it felt.
And to answer the guys question a well driven S2000 will always beat a stock WRX, with the exception of maybe 0-30 m.p.h. (weather providing).

And as Best Motoring proved, WRX is no match for S2000 on the track, as well.

the wrx is a match for the s on the track? I really hope youre talking about the sti. The wrx is a boat huge body roll as stated earlier has the worst turbo lag ive seen. I just dont see the wrx as a match to the s2000 in anything. Its not a bad car its just a different car.

sorry for the typo - "is not" should have been where the "is" was. Best Motoring made a race between S2000, WRX, RX-8, MX-5 and Integra Type-R on Tsukuba circuit and the S2000 beat the competition quite convincingly.

Sti's are fun track cars and can be quite fast on the track when driven correctly. I've never seen a non-Sti version on the track, but I am quite sure the S2000 could do circles around it driven correctly. That being said, I have both passed and been passed by an Sti on racetracks.

The original question is tough to answer because there are a couple answers depending on the conditions: Straight line - probably Sti (more HP and AWD), wet conditions - Sti (duh!), road course - S2000. It all depends on what arena you're looking to be faster.

My stock s2k and a wrx with a boost controller from a dig was pretty damn close but after 110 it was all the s2k every single time!

Could be the driver too. Not knowing exactly how to launch the car you're driving, or knowing the best shift points is critical.
