Octane, 89+3=???????
Seems like my only local source of premium gas has dried up. My plan B is to try some octane booster in 89 octane. The stuff I got says it will boost the octane by "up to 3 points". Kinda ambiguous, I don't know if that means 3 points in 20 gallons or 3 points in 1 gallon.
Any of you guys have any experience with any of this stuff? I have an uneasy feeling about it. Please convince me it will be ok. I don't want to revert to plan C.

Can't advise properly until plan C is known.
What is it? Inflight re-fuel, solar power assist, polonuim 210 low grade reactor......tell us man! regards, jagg p.s. Pretty sure bobby's correct on the .3 raise in octane rating deal. There was a really interesting thread with this info not too long ago. Last edited by jagg : 11-10-2007 at 07:31 PM. Reason: alcohol induced vomiting. |

Plan C is the installation of a flux capacitor. Octane then becomes a non-issue since it runs on kitchen garbage. The only reason I'm hesitating is the cost. It's $175,000 list but I'm searching e-bay for a better deal.

Don . . no*@&#?????
All sources'a Hi-test've evaporated? All Hooterville puns aside, but, what the hell'z goin' on out there? (I'm hopin' that you only mean your favorite local pumps've dried up n' down the road apiece there'z other sources) Some years back the bean-counter suits at Sunoco pulled Sunoco 260 out from under me like a cheap rug n' I was squawkin' like Donald Duck when he goes ballistic. (N' I hadda source for AvGas at the time) I imagine you've already checked on-line to find out any other sources in your area, that, n' buddyin' up to any'a the local racers whut godda use the same kikapoo joy juice'z us. If it's as dire a situation as you make it sound like it is, serious web time chasin' down solid info on octane booster should be a last ditch option. Good luck Don, Java

There's nothing over 89 octane in Hooterville. Next closest high octane pump is about 25 miles. No big deal but it just bugs me to travel 50 miles just for gas. If the Shell station here doesn't start carrying it again, I'm thinking about installing a storage tank behind my workshop. I need premium for the S, my old '57 truck and one of my bikes.

Don, you're a man after my own heart.
If ya put in the tank, they can do whatever they want n' you've still got go juice. Though, if you could find one, keepin' a solid booster (No, not a Nike 'r a Bomarck, solid, as in good for the necessary 3 octane points) would be alot more space efficient. (Ummm-m-m-m-m . . . . s'funny. 'Almost sounded like you said bike.) Be well. Java

Order a drum of Elf 100 unleaded. 10 gal 91 and 3 gallons of 100 will make 93.4 octane.
Or go to a race track which has gas pumps and use the above ratio. Jonathan
