tested out an s2k today
so i went to my local honda dealer today and tried out an 04 spa yellow s2k. the salesman was a total douchebag but the car was pretty awesome. i was surprised at the amount of torque the car had, but the 8k redline was a bit dissapointing, although hitting vtec was still insane. the amount of pull the car got at 6k was incredible. i told the guy how i was mainly looking for an 03 or below, and he began dogging on them, saying it was harder to meet smog, didnt have torque, blah blah blah. plus, since i haven't driven manual in a while, he began ragging on my driving abilities since some of my launches weren't exactly smooth. all in all, i love the car, but dont plan on going back to that dealer again.

Rev . . . a salesman who doesn't happen to be lookin' the other way when you don't shift 100% isn't gonna be there long. I wouldn't let a moron like that sour me on a dealership.
Be well. Java

What a moron salesdude! No worries on smogging the 03 (and I recommend 03 if you want AP1, get the latest possible).
That's worse than my first guy - it got funny fast trying to figure out how to start it (my first time driving a stewie |

yeah thats what i figured. i also forgot about push button start. he started laughing at me when i kept trying to turn the ignition. i'd prefer goin ap1, but i like the everyday driveability of the ap2. from what i drove, it actually could get going quite easily at the low end. how much worse is the ap1 vs ap2 in terms of low end power?

For my daily 25 mile commute, I now love the AP2. The AP1 had a bigger jump into VTEC (felt like it pushed me into the seat more, and my wife agrees), but the suspension was much rougher - although for the last couple of years I didn't care and loved the commute then too!
I've only had the 07 for about a month now, but I love it like my 03 because even without the hard VTEC kick it gets me going amazingly fast and she always jumps when I ask her to. And despite the new fancy handling control stuff, I still get it to slide when I want it to, just for fun and to surprise observers. Back to your question, though, thinking about it, at low end they both feel the same to me. I know the gear ratios have changed, but at the low end it's still a rocket. =scott |

Rev, the torque and horsepower differences that can fill volumes r' totally minimal (As in it don't make a hill'a beans). All the "redline" hype is jus' that. The redline don't mean diddly. It's the torque n' horsepower whut puts the period at the end'a the sentence.
The real differences between the AP1 n' the AP2 lies in the suspension. If anythin's gonna make your decision for you it's the suspension.

They drive the same when it comes to the engine. The suspension is where the differences will be.
