s2k performance
i read in s2kca.com that nothing would help an s2000 gain any hp like intake, exhuast system, and headers. A guy posted saying so and the only thing that would really help gaining hp is a sc or tc. Is this true??

Thats not true. There are a lot of mods that can add HP. They may not add as much as a Supercharger or Turbo but they are better than stock (in most cases).

^^I agree! There are many things you can do to the s2k that will add HP. But if you are looking for big gains for small $$, then this car isn't the one for that.

True dyno-tested hp is hard to come by. Even the reputable manufacturers show single digit gains in hp for intake/exhaust. Rarely, you might see 10-15 hp for I/H/E. People talk about 'throttle response' but that is very subjective... the S has amazing throttle response already. These mods can definitely add sound though. Finally, even a generous 15 whp increase on a 200whp car is very small and hardly noticeable.
Forced induction OTOH can net you 100whp and up. Looking at 5 large at a bare minimum to go that route, but likely more. |

The key to bolt on performance is the Tuner Trinity (I/H/E) and decent engine management. Look at Vapor on S2KI.com. He's got your basic I/H/E setup backed by the AEM EMS. He'll tell you that engine management and tuning are a must when it comes to extracting maximum power from the S. Same thing with forced induction. Tuning is the key in not only making power, but keeping your car reliable.
