Exhaust for s2000????
Hey guys and gals i was just woundering if anyone could give me some tips on the best Exhaust for a s2000. I want a exhaust that adds hp and also is not very load, because i dont want it to sound like the civics i hear drive by everyday. (no offence to civic drivers, i had a hatchback there pretty cool.) Anyways any feedback will be greatly appreciated. If anyone who lives in Portland, Oregon posts feedback please tell me where to get this exhaust. Also i forgot i want it too look nice too!!!!!

Well there are a few exhaust on the market that provide actual hp gains, but its not much. The main thing you want to look for is weight reduction. The stock cat back design is actually very efficient, however it weighs around 65 lbs. That is why most cat back or header back systems only add a couple hp, but if you go with a titanium system (like the amuse, only like 9 lbs) the weight reduction is well worth it. But with that system it is VERY loud. I have the apex n1 catback which i really like, it weighs about 22 lbs, looks nice, and was affordable. Spugen makes really affordable titanium exhausts though if thats what you are looking for, i think they run around $600. But most with noticable gains are going to be louder than your stock exhaust. Good luck with your decision.

Has anyone tried the Back Yard Special "Magnum Street" stainless steel cat-back exhaust? It's JDM and is supposed to produce a noticeable increase in torque and HP up to 6,000 rpm. Is this any better than the Comptech or Amuse or HKS etc?

None of these exhausts produce any significant hp gains. (A gain of 5hp from 200whp isn't 'significant' in my book). This is because Honda did a very good job on the car with few compromises on getting those gasses to the rear.
However, a dual setup on an inline 4 engine is primarily for looks so a single Ti exhaust is your best bet. Yeah, you could argue that it's as hard to notice 50lb weight loss as a 5whp gain, but the weight loss is going to affect braking and handling not just acceleration. |
