Questions about S2000

Hello

This is going to be a stupid question but has anyone removed the stock air box and left the air filter opened? Is this a bad thing?

its not a good idea to run the car with no filter, but whan u can do is take the stock out the box and replace with a k&n type.

If I understand correctly, you want to still run the filter, but just take off the cover. If this is the case, it wont hurt anything, will make your intake alot loader and you will also loose HP. Not enough to notice though.

That is correct. I'm going to leave the filter there since the factory seems to be the K&N. I wanted to know if it would hurt or be bad by taking the box. Why would you lose hp?

You will loose HP due to heat soak. ur much better off keeping it on, also dyno tests have proven that the stock filter makes more hp than the k&n anyways, plus the k&n lets in more crap. there is a mod you can do to the stock air box, that requires covering that little hole it has in the back, which would make it sound a lot better and wouldn't hurt performance. If you do a search on s2ki there is a write up with pics... good luck
