Audio System Upgrade

Planning on upgrades my audio system, deck and speakers. Would like the dashboard controls work (but not a must), no cutting preferred so I can put the stock system back in later. Any suggestions or is anyone pleased with the way theirs came out.

I would say get an Alpine deck that has a remote, that's what I did, they make an adapter for the dash controls, but as of now for some reason it is onl available in Europe. You can also check out: http://www.lucidautomotive.com/

I just upgraded my head unit. I wanted XM Radio which I have found invaluable in my other cars. I bought the Alpine 9820XM which has a built-in XM tuner. You only have to hook up an XM antenna (which it doesn't come with?). This is ideal since currently no one has stock on the external tuner.

Changing out the head unit gave an awesome improvement, but when I went shopping I also picked up a 12" sub, a 4-channel amp, and some new in-door speakers. I've wired the sub and amp, but haven't installed the door speakers. I'm not sure I will install the door speaker since it sounds so good right now.

Of course, you will see that this Alpine does not have an external IR, so I won't be able to use the dash controls. I'm a bit disappointed, but I've only owned my S for a week so I never got use to using them.

Well, I was wrong. The Alpine does support an external IR remote--it just doesn't come with one. So once Modifry starts selling his DCI again, I'm set.
