Question Considering A New S2000......

Hey guys, I currently own a 2006 Mustang GT and I am thinking about a smaller more fun to drive car that still has plenty of go and one of a kind looks. So the S2000 seems like a good place to turn. I am just curious if any of you have made the switch from a larger V8 muscle car to a sporty roadster? If so how was it and what do you miss the most from your old car? Thanks for the replies and have a good one! Oh and just for gits i posted a pic of my GT, I love her and all but I think it's time for a change.

Gee, the thing I miss most was the 14mpg hwy and 10 mpg in town...and that was driving carefully.

Well AT, that is one sweet lookin' Stang !

I'm thinkin' of stopping at my local Ford dealer when the Bullitt makes its debut. What I've seen in the car mags looks awfully good.

Now, does that mean I'm lookin' to get rid of my S2000? No way hosea !!!

You gotta take a test drive in our beloved Stewie. I think you'll be hooked before you get out of second gear !

I have driven V8 cars for years, basically since I have driven starting in 1984. Ive had Camaros, SS Chevelles, my current 83 El Camino, 98 and 00 Z28, 90 Mustang 5.0, trucks, etc. Also have had quite a few four bangers(built up 73 Corolla with a 2T-G, 07 Civic Si, 06 Sentra Spec V, plus many more regular cars) and Landcruisers. Ever since the S2000 came out I have wanted one and was finally able to get my 03 a couple months ago. Its a blast to drive. It has no where near the low end power the V8's did or even mid range. Top end rpms is about the same overall. ONly V8 cars that could come close to the handling was the newer Z28's, especially the 98 which was the 1LE version, it would probably keep up with a stock S2K. The 98 and 00 Z28 actually got better gas mileage though, close to 30 mpg highway due to the double overdrive trans and the LS1 engine. The S2K is a very fun car to drive around, especially in the corners around here on mountain roads. Be careful of not overdoing it in a tight corner or the rear will swap ends, know that from experiance, lol. For straight line drag racing, nothing beats a good V8. The S2K is all top end, especially the pre 04. The rear end wont take many 8-9K rpm drops either so you have to take off gentle then punch it. Too bad you cant keep the GT and get the S2K as a second car.

Hey Mark, thanks for that post it is exactly what I was looking for. I think if I do go with the S2K I will miss some parts of my GT but no matter what you drive you can't have it all. I am still going back and forth with the dealer on numbers and if they make it look good enough I'll go for it thanks again guys!
