theres about the same amount of parts for both. My answer is drive both and decide what feels better to you. There is no better car just what you like more

isu'z on the money dd (leatherneckish are we dd?) they're two different animals whut drive two different ways. If you truly enjoy drivin', you owe it to yerself ta taste both samplin'z.
N' it's a Honda dd. Unless we really screw-up . . we don' need no stinkin 'parts.
Good luck n' keep us posted,
Java
P.S. Check past threads on the subject: lots'a really specific poop.

Agreed, I've owned them both and loved them both for different reasons (and lots of the same ones). Nothing like driving them to see which feels better to you!

I have only owned a 2.2 . Watching video the 2.2 clearly shows faster. acceleration from a standing start than the 2.0.
But you are sure to be happy with either selection.

I have also driven both, while test driving before I bought. While I think the 2.2 is a little faster the 2.0 does rev to 9000 rpm's and that is just plain cool. I think that's the reason some people go for the 2.0 but I went with 2.2.
Good Luck.

9>8 I love having 9k's to play with and i can get out of the hole just as good if not better then the 2.2's. It depends on the driver.

AP1's handle better IMO. AP2 came with a softer rear end because of complaints of snap oversteer, most likely due to the driver running out of talent and not the car's fault.

I have a real good friend (he was my best man) and he constantly races at Sebring with his M3 and 996 Turbo, his buddy had a AP1 S2K and he drove it, the rear end snap was his biggest complaint, he drove my AP2 and he fell in love with it. Now I know it is all personal preference but he's a highly skilled driver and I value his comments and observations. Food for thought

Nothing against your buddy, but Stewie may not have fit his driving style. Keeping the car balanced, especially the AP1, is extremely important.

Maybe he didn't have enough seat time in it to learn how to adjust to the car where as he was used to the M3 and 996 T. Maybe those cars are easier to balance as well. I've seen a non-professional advanced driver keep up with Corvettes and NSX's on the race track in timing with his AP1.

Neil I am confused why you say the ap2 is clearly faster. I dont know which car is faster. I have raced about 4 ap2's and have yet to lose so I cant say that the ap2 is clearly faster.

s2000isu, google s2000 videos, find Japanese video at race track.
It was a race between old and new s2000. You will see.
I will also try and find it again and send you the thread.
The new s2000 from the start of the race and from hairpin corners was just gone.
Low end torque.

'Drove 'em both, a few times back-ta-back. They're both quick, they're both fun, n' they both have specific requirements necessary ta get the most oud'um'em without becomin' one with the landscape.
They both require intense attention, but, like'z been said so many times before: the AP1 is less forgivin' of inattentiveness.
I do not see one as havin' anythin' over the other. When cars're this close people, it's the driver, not the car. Bondurant n' Barber'll save yas.
Posted what I felt were the differences numerous times n', like everybody else's 2 cents on the topic, it's all in the old posts if anyone cares to dig 'em up.

Drats!!! Foiled again......

jagg

p.s. hi-pro drivin' school never hurts anyone......actually will make you a safer driver under everyday circumstances.
AP1,AP2.......too close to call. A couple of ft. lbs of torque, one h.p. up or down......whatever. Get one, drive it lots.....enjoy.

I'm on the edge about getting an S2 also.
What I'm thinking is that there's some definite "fun factors" in having the 2.0, but it's probably worth it to go for the newer, less "seasoned" 2.2. Any input?
That's the direction I'm leaning towards. I just hope I don't have to sell my other car to get it!!

Personally, the AP1 is younger, a little rougher around the edges but you can have a lot of fun with that. I'm getting older (sign) so I like the ride of the AP2 now and it's STILL a lot of fun. They both jam and handle like slot cars but the AP2 is a bit smoother on the bumpies. I wouldn't bet on either in a race, though, I think the engineers matched them up pretty well - if one blows the other away it's not stock.

I said this in another thread, so I'll reiterate it here.

The answer in your debate is: Yes, get a stewie.

no more ap1 vs ap2 argument.

it is very subjective. therefore just drive one.

If you do not need enough torque to get away from a light you could get the 2.0 but I also understand you may modify it. Even the 2.2 would not do that well unless you have modified it or reduced its weight by 200 lbs.
