Do you work? If so I hope It's a good job because not be discouraging but your insurance at 17 would prolly be pretty nasty. Other than that I would definitly look into some used ones. These cars last forever so getting one with around 50-60,000 miles as your first one would'nt be bad. Best of luck to you.

Save your pennies kiddo.......big downpayment helps a bunch when you're looking to finance a car.
Nothin' worth having comes easy.....but this will be worth the effort.

I researched the car for year before I bought mine in 99. Even at $5k over list it was still the one I wanted. And still is.

I have to second Sonic's comments. I would definately call your insurance company before you even consider a S2000 purchase. My "low mileage second car rated" S2000 costs me more per year to insure than my daily driver '07 TL type-S! And the TL-S was actually over $10K more to purchase...

young kid with high hopes. it prolly wont happen, i was in the same situation when they came out when i was ur age. im 22 now, and bought one last november, my payments are hight and insurance is actually really good for me... only like 150 a month with a clean history. but i had to go with a civic when i was ur age. and i riced it up and learned how to make a car ugly. lol now i have much better taste. but n e ways, u better have a great job. rich parents, or one given to you. you should be worrying about school first and not a hot ride, cause once ur outta school and making big dough then you can afford anything u want...

Save your money for a big down payment as stated above, but also for the insurance. It's going to be about as much as your car payment possibly.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Not only did I have some advice, I posted it in English (you may remember that, it's theoretically taught in school )

I am 23 now and finally got one 11/07. Only reason why is because AAA took off my drag racing ticket (from 3 years ago). A clean record is a must for your age, but drive a junker for awhile sure the high school nuts will bug you until you pull up in a few years in this. Reminds me of the time when I was 20 in a 1997 BMW 328is those guys almost passed out. Do what I did find an old E36 1997-1999 BMW M3 with 50,000 miles or so the car has 240hp out of an inline 6 and insurance might be a little high $150-$200 (maybe more cause your age) and you can still have fun.

Hey the s2k is a bad ass car, Would look good rollin through your highschool and pickin up the ladies
I would say check with your insurance co. if its reasonable and you have a well paying job then go for it. If not get something cheaper for now and save your money.
In the mean time say you bought a honda civic or acura integra put some money into it. 3 or 4 years from now you could own it free and clear and sell it for a down payment or trade it+ cash for an s, just a few ideas to throw out there...

unless you plan on paying cash, or get a parent to finance it for you you cant do anything til your 18. Its illegal to finance someody under the age of 18. But when your ready I got a sweet 2000 with only 7900 miles on it.
