Talking 08 Cr brochure funny!

so my friend went to test drive the 08 Cr and she picked up a brochure to look at. so i was just taking a look at it and i came across this statement which i thought was quite funny and made almost no sense.
it says word for word

" without a power-folding soft top, air conditiong or audio system, and with its hadtop removed, the CR weighs in at a lean 2,765 lbs- a FULL 99 lbs. lighter than the standard s2000."

is it just me or is not make any sense? idk how many of us ride around with out our air conditiong or audio system haha. let me know what yall think.

That is funny, but i know a guy that use to. He took out the hole inside of his car, except dash and driver seat. Also took out the AC and power steering. Not in his S2k. It was in his accord. But it was alot more than 99lbs more like about 250lbs.

Buyer Beware
In an effort to shave off bits of weight and wring out the last few droplets of performance that the standard S2000 leaves on the table, the CR version comes without a stereo, air-conditioning, sound-deadening material or a top. Take into account the heavier-than-stock components the CR adds, such as the rear wing, body strengthening and wider rear tires and Honda says the CR weighs 2,765 pounds — 99 pounds lighter than the standard '08 S2000. However, secure the standard aluminum hardtop in place and the CR's curb weight goes up to 2,813 pounds.

guys who drift remove almost everything from their engine bays to clean them up and reduce weight, I knew a guy who striped all the interior pannels, carpet and all off of his 240sx nothing left except 2 speakers deck, and driver and passenger seat. it got hot as hell in the summer...

That is how they got the weight reduction. Notice there is no increase in engine output though. That's where Honda missed the mark.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

There's an old Hot Rod article where they take a stock '70's caddy and run it in the quarter. Without any modification to the engine, they slowly get it to faster and faster. By the time they're done, it's a drivetrain, frame, race seat, and rollbar. The point was simple, less weight means less for the engine to carry.

Well bam, what they're sayin' does make sense, but it also makes no sense (You guys needed to be scratchin' yer heads. Yer all gettin' too use'ta Java-speak now).
Alodda you guy'z've brought some very interestin' facts to this thread that I wasn't aware of n' they all do nothin' but further convince me of my previous conclusion about the CR AP3 n' that is:
It's all a cheap way for Honda ta put their least-important, still-in-short-pants engineers on the car to, with the least amount'a cash outlay, time n' effort, "bump" Stewie back onto everybody'z interest scopes.
Ta gedda few more years oud'a the same, aging (Face it gang, there still ain't nothin' that comes close, but it ain't light years ahead'a the field anymore . . even in CR AP3 livery . . 'r lack'a livery) design.
For me, it's still the closest thing to a racer that I'll ever own (that I didn't have to cobble together myself) n' I'll take it any way I can gedditt, y'know?
But I like drivin' it all'a time n' I have the top down when it looks like rain, sometimes when it's rainin' (yesterday) n' love the ability to throw the top up at the last second n' continue on my way.
How far you gonna get from home when home'z where the top izz?
When you leave the top off n' with the raggtopp n' AC gone it saves 99 pounds? Gimme a @*#&in' break!

JJ, your post pretty much echoes what I said to the factory rep last year at the roll-out for the CR. I told him that it looked to me like standard Honda practice...they stick things on an existing model and call it SPECIAL or EXTRA or some other silly name and sell as many as they can...then they create a new model series to replace the old one. I couldn't get a straight answer to the question of whether the 2008 was the last of the S2000 from them.

Well, the "CR" stands for Club Racer, so I godda think that Mother was lookin' to entice the track crowd (or racer wanna beez) with her stripped down version, cauz as stated earlier, no sober, right minded person would want Stewie without a radio, A/C, or a top.

Pablo
