Exhaust: Single or Dual?

Im looking at exhaust's for my S and im just wondering which which will give me better performance overall. A single tip or dual tip. Your opinions would greatly help

I heard thought that the single tip gives you a slightly better power gain. T or F ??

Single or double tip

I run a single outlet magnaflow which holds the noise down and gives good power. Just my 2 cents.

the only gain I can see since it's an I-4 powerplant, is that you'd shave off a few pounds with the single tipped exhaust.....the duals are a fake-out on the S2000. They're there for asthetics only.

Sorry Reborn, got sidetracked.

The single is better only because it saves a little bit of weight.
Personal opinion: the factory setup is fine the way it is, looks alot better, and it's built to last the life of the car. The nominal gain by changing it out isn't worth the expense. For what it costs, you could buy alot of gas. It's just so much money flushed down the toilet.

But..Yes. Common sense says the single setup is in theory a better configuration. You could achieve the same benefit by emptying the trunk.

As far as straight power gains in general single will be better. Also lighter when compared to an equal-level duals.

But can you live with a hole on the left side of your rear bumper? I couldnt.

Naw i couldn't, thats why its hard to decide. The stock exhaust looks awsome. It adds to the flow of the car. Also, if ya go aftermarket, u have all the ricers in town wanting a piece of ya and thats just waste of gas. GOD DAMN STREET RACERS )

Jagg, perhaps you are being a bit too practical and analytical. I agree that the exhaust as designed by Mother is probably perfectly suited for Stewie, and that power gains from changing it are nil, however, I for one find it a bit quiet. I'm not looking to shake up the neighbors mind you, but the exhaust note is just a bit wimpy.

Can ya tell I just ordered an HKS cat back for Baby?............

My favorite way of dealing with a ricer is to rev the engine slightly at the light (the slightly louder exhaust helps here) , give him or her the "let's go for it" look and them let the take off like a bat out of Hell looking like a total ass as I mosey on doing my 3.5K RPM shifts.

This works especially well if you know that the gendarme like to hang out in that particular area.

Of course, I can totally see your viewpoint here Pablo.
Stewie's exhaust note under v-tec rpms does belie the screaming beast within, and that's a good thing. A stealthy design, if not by engine dynamics alone.

I disagree that you can be overly practical or analytical when it comes to a complex machine, 'N especially an automobile..... In a car like Stewie, nothing gets done until a bunch of overly analytical minds, with a penchant for practicality, get to thinking about building a sportscar.

Jagg, I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Again, I am not denying that that analysis and practicality have their place in car design, but so do excitement and passion. Mother did her job. She did all the planning and analysis and created an excellent machine. Adding a slightly louder exhaust may give one, me for example, a certain amount of sensuous pleasure, e.g. the sweet sound a a throaty exhaust. This does not in any way undo all of mothers good work. What's the harm? It's my dime.

Let me try to explain using a metaphor. One could make love in s sterile room with nice white pristine sheets and large fluorescent lights. it would be very practical and if one were to analyze it it would be an excellent environment for procreation.

Personally, given the choice, I prefer a glass of Cabernet, candles, perfume, and a nice room overlooking the ocean.

Ya know SoundMan, I used to do the same thing with my Blackbird. She had a pair of carbon fiber Two Brothers slip ons. I used to love blipping the throttle while under an over pass. I missed it with Stewie, hence, the HKS.

I found it on eBay. The seller has 2 or 3 left I think. With shipping $740

Best Regards
