50/50 weight ratio

Is it true that the s2000 has a 50/50 weight ratio? If so where can I find proof? I have a friend who owns a corvette and says the vette is the closest to reaching 50/50. Help me out ya'll!!

bro, i don't think theres such thing as a CLOSEST to reach 50/50. It's either you're fifty fifty or your NOT. And if there was such a thing the s2000 would definitely be the closest to reaching 50/50.

And tell you friend, that unless he owns a Z06, he is no longer allowed to have car talks with you!

Ruff Ryder, there is such thing as a 50/50 weight ratio in vehicles. a Vette is 48/52, it just depends on where the engine is mounted. On the S, its mounted completely behind the front wheels. He doesnt drive a Z06, but he's the manager of our Chevy Dealership. (I sell Mitsubishi's) and as much as I like my S, a Vette will eat me for din din. Raced him many times coming in to work, hung over on a saturday morning.

If only Honda made a 6.2L for our car like chevy did for the regular vette. With over 3 times the AP1 engine, if you do beat him ever, make him know he lost. lol.

That 49/51 is front/rear, so the car is slightly heavier in the rear. I don't think any other front engined car can claim that!

Just did a little research..........
According to Dave Hill at the April National Corvette Museum/Registry Birthday Bash, the 2006 Z06 has a 49.3%/50.7% front to rear weight bias without a driver, which changes to a 49.7% front, 50.3% rear weight bias with a 180 pound driver in it.

Hmmmm........according to the video that you get with the Z06, it's 51/49 (frt/rear). Maybe it depends on the junk in your trunk. (yes, YOUR trunk)

I think Dodge Neon had a 50/50 ratio! That is why they used them so much in racing school. I thought! I could be wrong as i am alot on Dodge LOL!

Don't know about the weight of a Neon, but I think the reason they use them is because they are cheap junk and disposable when crashed. JMO.

That's one of the issues I've been thinking in the S2000, in stand still the S2k has 49/51('08 model), but if it runs, foot at gas pedal, weight shifts at the back so I think it now will be at 46.5/53.5...and that's why the 350z, G35 and the IS350 has 53/47 weight distribution at stand still but when it runs, it will have 50/50.....and I think Nissan and Lexus are right...

I'm also really concerned about this issue because S2k's true potential appears when it runs...not at stand still..........

You can also swap out that 50lb exhaust in the rear end and get it closer to 50/50

Topic is a little old, but I thought I'd let you know sports cars have a bias for a heavier back end because of corning. Think about it, if a car has a 47/53 ratio and you apply the brakes, its going to be closer to 50/50 while taking that corner as compared to a 50/50 car that is cruising or at a standstill. Wikipedia explains it pretty well. Anyways, thought I'd throw in my two cents.
