will be joining the s2000 owners soon

finally broke down and decided to sell my tiburon and go for a car that is actually good. i should be buying the s2k within the next month or so (after i get done putting my second clutch in my tib in six months). planning on going with the ap1. is there anything i should know about that i might not before going forward with this decision. any help is greatly appreciated.

If you trash tibby clutches that fast make sure in your budget you leave an extra 1500 to take care of the rears or clutches you will trash in the s2000.

Im just wondering. I know a lot of people with Tibourons. How did you like it and was it reliable? Everyone I know tries to make it seem like a dream car. lol.

the tiburon i got was a lemon i bought it for 8000 and i spent almost 3000 fixing it in three months. and the reason the clutch went bad is because of the dual mass flywheels that hyundai used are poo. if you dont replace them for the low low price of 903 dollars when you replace your clutch. then it goes bad within a month. which i found out after i didnt replace mine. i still love the car but its costing me way more than its worth. and i actually found a really nice s2000. its a 2003, the dealership is asking 22,000 for it and its got 15,633 miles on it.

Make the swap. You'll only regret not havin' done it sooner.
Jus' make yer best deal usin' yer head. Not parts'a the body that're better suited fer other stuff.

i ust never knew much about the s200 before just recently, then i did alot of homework on them and went and drove a couple and fell in love lol.im upset i wasted so much money on my tiburon. i couldve had half of that s2000 paid off by now

after i read your post i went to a tib site. is it your clutch? you do have that 100,000 mile warranty, right? of course, a clutch is a wear item, but it seems that the tib clutch is a pos. don't think i could buy one of the hyuandi models. resale is a killer.

ya but my car has 112,000 miles on it lol. i pulled the engine out today so i could start putting the clutch in but i have to got to school here in a little bit so itll have to wait.

Wouldn't it be a heck of alot easier to pull the transmission when you're changing the clutch?

not really cuz its hard to get the car high enough and i dont feel like dropping my sub frame to get to the transmission. FWD=pull engine, RWD=drop transmission. at least to me thats the easiest way to do it, ive done both.

ok i need a little help deciding. i found two s2000's that i like alot, one is a 2003 with 15633 miles on it silver with black interior bone stock, the other is a 2001 with 75000 miles on it with the red interior (which i like more) magnaflow exhaust dc headers k&n intake and a short shifter (not sure which brand but its nice lol) HID headlights and some body kit with sideskirts and a rear bumper that i will probably get rid of for a stock one if i get it for 15000. i like the 2001 more but i like the miles more on the 2003. any help with this decision would be greatly appreciated. (i probably should have started a new thread for this but o well)

99% of the time you should always buy the stock car. If its modified, Its a big indicator that they beat the living shit out of it. Especially if they are buying DC parts for it, since they most of the time loose hp in our car.

The miles would also bug me with all those modifications. Our cars should come with HID lights... Mine did. Do you know if the differential has had the fluid changed out regularly in the one with high miles? If not, you'd be spending more money very soon.

Most people will agree with me on the one with the mods and staying away from it.

yeah i would def. say go for the stock s2k.. totally agree with d1sclaimer on the car being beat to shit. and a body kit with dc parts on it???? must have been a kid who owns it and prolly launched the car every light he stopped at. watch out for launching ap1's pat, even thou u change ur diff fluid out, they can still easily break...

ya i know its definately not a launch car lol. i would like to start tracking it. once i get it. but i think im going to get the 2003 stock. and besides im also really tired of having high mileage vehicles. it would be amazing to have a car with only 15k miles on it and i shouldnt let which interior i like more be a deciding factor in a major onvestment like this.

Just so you don't get any surprises, you should check with your insurance company before you buy either one. Insurance is usually pretty high for young drivers and some companies will not insure an S2000. Check it out.

ya i was gonna do that tomorrow. my insurance is pretty low since im on my parents policy tho so thats nice. i only pay like 160 per month on my tiburon with full coverage and my company has already paid for one of my cars that got totaled.
