Making some ramps

I've put some thought into this and decided that I'm gonna make my own car ramps out of some wood that I have laying around. I already know how I'll make them, I just need to know how high. I'll be doing some minor exhaust work and oil changes with them. Would you say 8 inches high would work fine or more?

sweet thanks man. I was thinking around 10 also, but most of the ones you can buy are about 8 inches.

D, not fer nothin', rampin' Stewie up to a height'uv even 10 inches is gonna require a substantial chunk/length'a wood.
You can never have enough room (short'uv'a pit 'r a lift) to work on a car. As you sound like you're gonna be workin' with some sizeable piecey-parts, I think that even 10 inches is gonna be inadequate.
A job like an exhaust change ('r anythin' as involved) might be better served by jackin' the car up n' suspendin' it proper with either a good set'a jackstands 'r, if you're commited ta woodworkin', jackin' it up n' placin' a set'uv substantial, wider'n they are tall blocks under the wheelz.
10 inches ain't gonna properly ge'cher creeper under'er.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I've got some long pieces of wood. Im not gonna be changing out the entire exhaust, just from the cat and back.

Wood is a very strong item. As long as it doesn't split, it will hold more than fine. I've got some quality wood that'll hold around 5,000 psi. Try finding a stronger metal for cheap. http://www.woodworkweb.com/index.php...=146&Itemid=51

$35 for the durable plastic resin ramps at Kragen Auto Parts. The S goes right up on them without scraping. But I don't think they're tall enough for what you want to do.

I know it's strong, it holds up my house. I am just saying I wouldn't get under the car.
