My shift and tunnel is quite hot!

As a new owner of an S2000 year's 2000 I noticed that the tunnel on top of the transmision box is quite warm. Apart of that the shift gear handle which is metallic is very warm to almost hot. Is anything wrong with that or is it normal the temperature of the transmision to be transfered to the shift handle?

Also I have notice a metal to metal sound like scratch on low rpm between 1000-2300rpm from the rear shaft (transmision). Is this normal or there is a problem with my car?

I have a 2003 S2000 with only 687 miles on it. The tunnel get warm. It is quite warm around the parking break lever. As for the noises, mine doesn't make any. Sorry I could not be more help.

The tunnel and gear shift does get hot.

For the noise I do get it too.. I have a year 2000 with 5000 miles (11000 km) and it does make a scratching sound at idle... I have brought the car up to take a look but could not find anything. But the car runs great..
