240 HP 2.0 Liter - Ever Thougth About It

Don't slam me for posting this, but just think about the engine in the S2K (2000 to 2003 models). To the best of my knowledge and what is posted on the Car and Driver website it is the most powerful factory piston driven engine per liter ever produced. Let's put this in some real terms of displacement comparison.

Honda S2000 (2000 to 2003) - 2.0 liters, 240 HP or 120 HP per liter

Honda S2000 (2004) - 2.2 liters, 240 HP or 109 HP per liter

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (8 cylinder) - 5.7 liters, 405 HP or 71 HP per liter

Dodge Viper (10 cyliner) - 8.3 liters, 500 HP or 60.25 HP per liter

Ferrari 360 Spyder (8 cylinder) - 3.6 liter, 400 HP or 111 HP per liter

Ferrari Enzo (12 cylinder) - 6.0 liters, 660 HP or 110 HP per liter

Honda engineers sure know what they are doing. It sure is a WORLD CLASS engine. My car is a great every day driver and a fun car for the weekend. I know it can't run with the cars I mentioned, but it is fun to think about displacement and HP. I hope eveybody enjoys their S2K as much as I enjoy mine. Plus, for the money it can't be beat!

F20c is definitely the heart of this car. Would never have been as great a track car with a modified Accord or Civic engine. However, there are motorcyle engines (Honda and otherwise) that put out more than 120hp/L... of course they don't last too long.

Why are we comparing a Honda to Corvette,Ferrari and Viper, I love the S2000,but that rediculous. I don't care if your Civic or Accord is faster than the Corvette, Ferrari and Viper, chances are your car is not even street legal, so you can't compare that. Beside, who gonna get more girls?

I love Import, but there's people just make us look bad.

The thread was only comparing engine output... not the whole car. As far as 'getting girls' I won't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

Engine Output

I want to clarify my thread. I was only comparing engine output per liter. NOT THE CARS. There is no way to compare an Enzo with a S2000. Just the design of the Honda S2000 engine. I thought it would be interesting to compare the engine designs and their respective output per liter. The only car engine that exceeds that of the S2000 per liter is not piston driven. The engine is the rotary engine in the RX8. It is 238 HP out of a 1.3 liter displacement. This is comparing apples to organges. Please read my entire thread. I never intended to imply that a S2000 is as fast as a Z06 or a Viper. Nor would it get more girls. JUST ENGINE OUTPUT!
