Wow. Thanks for posting that. I honestly can't guess what could have happenned this time. For a second failure of (I'm assuming) all new parts, there has to be a serious flaw somewhere in your engine.

Honestly, the whole 'overrev' thing is just a way for AHM to get out of paying a warranty claim. A mechanical overrev (for example, downshiting instead of up near redline) could definitely harm your engine. But, simply redlining shifts isn't usually a problem in most cases. Hell, plenty of people track their cars routinely keeping them in the VTEC range for 15-20 minute runs sometimes. Admittedly, they tend to be religious about maintenance, use synthetic oil, the right octane, probably do oil analysis on their cars and what not... but still it shows that the engine can take the kind of driving the was meant for.

cycledealer I think ur full of If you went FI, it can be a possibilty and if you downshifted when you were at red line. No matter how hard you run it, it won't die on you. I think your just tryin to make a bad name for S.

another engine blown!

I have a 2002 that has been totally pampered, and this is the 2nd time it's in the shop with damage to valves Honda is saying is due to overreving. There is absolutely no possible way this car has been overreved, they just want to get out of fixing it.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Maybe we need to get together to make Honda fix our cars.

Hi all, I own a 2001 s2000 and have been driving it for a year now. It gets thrashed every day - i.e. taken to the rev limiter in every gear, and it has done nothing but purr. I'm sorry CYCLEDEALER but either you have issues with your keyboard or you really are a dumb blonde. I don't understand how someone can consistently post in capitals and expect people to take them seriously. I must admit I have doubts as to whether you caused this blown engine problem or not. On one hand you could be downshifting at the wrong time (it is possible to get the wrong gear in such a short-shift box) or on the other there is some wierd issue with your car. Believe me when I say that the s2000 is as solid and reliable as they come. I somehow have the feeling that the ECU in your car is not performing the rev limit at the appropriate point and therefore is causing the engine damage. I have seen performance s2000's damaged by over-revving and would be any easy thing to do with the limit removed as the engine shoots up the rpm range very quickly. In one post you said you got the car from the dealer and gave it a good crank on the way home and the next you said you took it easy... hmmm...

One last note. CYCLEDEALER, I totally agree with you that dealers can be complete morons. The best thing you can do is read up on your car and general knowledge and keep the bastards honest when they tell you bullsh*t. I really hope things work out for you and your s2000, I know I have enjoyed every minute driving mine.

I had 7000 miles on my vehicle when the clutch died. I had only done three or four spinouts and that is about it. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
