I've been running with vsa turned off, but whats the point of having the on/off ability if it still kicks on in emergencies.

From what I know, when it is off it should be off all together. I really don't think it comes on in an emergency. When its off you can spin the wheels and drift, but when activated it will assist.

I was hitting the roads out back. When ever I hit 60 or greater on a turn it lights up for a brief second. It also flicks on for a second when I punch it from a stopped position.

The VSA system is automatically on each time you start the car.

When you push the VSA button, it shuts the system off and the light should be on as a reminder that the system is not active.

When driving with the system on, the light will blink momentarily when the system is actually doing something to stabilize the vehicle. So, if your light is blinking on, then your system was not really shut off.

When you push the VSA button to shut the system off, hold the button long enough to be sure the light comes on (takes about 2 seconds).

One other thing, changing tire sizes may cause the VSA system to malfunction.

An example of VSA in action. I have it on my Honda Oddesey and still having snow up here if I try to accelerate to fast it won't allow me to go any faster than what the wheels have traction. Wheels will not spin even if I have my foot flat to the floor, and the blinking VSA light shows up on the dash.
Now if I push the button to remove VSA, switching it off my wheels will spin. It really is a good system driving correction.
