AP1- AP2 ?

being a new owner of a stewie, what is the difference between AP1 and AP2, is it just the difference in production years, or is it something else?

Not to mention that the steering ratio, spring rates, shock settings on AP-1s are closer to the CR. Gearing is different top speed on AP-1s (according to R&T) in 2001 was 165 miles per hour. AP-2s top out around 154 miles per hour. AP-1s use more oil than AP-2s. There are numerous other subtle differences but I don't feel like typing them all in.

I bet that 9k makes a huge difference in daily driving. What was I thinking passing up a better stock engine for 1k more of rpms that I already can't use unless I go outa my way. =p

ap1-ap2

I have my flame suit on here, I would say looks wise, I do like the AP2, for reasons of headlights, bumper, etc. Driving wise, AP1 all the way baby!!!

Not that it really matters which is better. The ratio of high school and college kids that can afford new stewies are about .1% of the car enthusiast population, so the world will continue to buy ap1's on the cheap.

Blah, blah, blah, you're talkin all that performance, technical stuff when really it all comes down to one thing. Cupholders, one vs. two.

hrm that is a valid argument!

but I don't risk putting drinks in my car due to cornering speed during the twisties.

But which one is actually faster? ive heard points for ap1s and ap2s. I have an 04 so Im biased and think ap2s are faster haha but what ive heard since ap2s have the slightly higher torque rating and making both peak hp and tq at lower rpms it makes it faster in a straight line. But ap1s have better handling because of the tighter suspension and ticker sway bars, ect. but im not sure.

Well it's like this. With one cup holder you can cary one beer, bottle of booze etc. With two cup holders you can carry two items of speed enhancement so two cup holders are faster. See, easy wasn't it!

The AP1 has a lower Vtec point and as you mentioned better suspension. And with my experience with aftermarket parts the AP1 has more surport.

I'll never be convinced that anything, other than the driverz, makez a bidd'a difference between these two very worthy sportscars.
"The race goes to the swift" . . . 'n the swift ain't got nothin' ta doo with whether the driver'z wearin' an AP1'r'an AP2.
Don't let the magazine word-mongerz shag yuz.
It ain't all jus' about Stewie. It's about you'n Stewie!

AP1 or AP2? This is one of those questions like "what's the best motor oil?". There's just different opinions. Maybe no right answer.

Has anyone ever seen a test where the same professional driver took both cars around a road course for comparison? I've seen the one where the two japanese guys are chasing each other around the track, but that's two different drivers.

Personally, I like the AP1's a lot better than the AP2's. Lookwise and engine wise.

ap1's for me. Just because thats what i own. If i had a ap2 it would have to be one from one of those countrys that still use ap1 motors in it. That is really the only reason i like the ap1 better. I love the looks and style of the ap2, not saying i dont like my ap1's style. Its nice to suck up a ap2 on the hwy. Just yesterday i ran up on a CR, very sweet and clean car. Sucked him up too.

AP1 for me, as I am the original owner and will never sell it. And if what was said above about the CR suspension being close to the AP1, then mine must be even better with it's Mugen NZ Dampers and Swift Sway Bars.

'Drove both, love both, jus' so happened that the best deal that came along first wuz the sweet AP2 that I abuse daily'n fitz me like'n ol' shoe.
As good'z they doo whut they doo, they could look alot uglier'n it wouldn't make no neva'mind ta me.
'Originally got Stewie to take care'a those timez when the rain takes the fun oud'a bein' out on'a bike ('Gettin' on in yearz don'cha know).
Stewie'z turned out'ta be such a sweet ride, I look forward to the bad weather'z well'z the good.
Stewie (Either of'em) could only come in two-tone taxi-yellow'n kelly green with a purple bowler on'ittz head n' I'd still own one. An AP2. No, an AP1. No . . maybe whut I need izz one'a each. Y'know?
