I am looking to set up my S2000 for road racing. So far I have H&R Full Coilovers, Skunk2 Camber kit, Brembo Gran turismo brake kit, Spoon Strut Tower bar, Neuspeed Rear Lower Tie bar, comptech Adjustable sway bar, Neuspeed Front Strut Tie bars. I was wondering if you might have any sugestions for the motor whether or not to go with FI or try to build and NA motor?

Street racing? GET a different car with a bigger engine, Mustang 5.0 for instance.

For the motor and racing like that, I'd suggest supercharger, but turbo wouldn't be a problem as well. If you stay NA, gains are minimal compared to other cars for bolt ons and such.

I would suggest getting a front lower cross brace. Its a chassis brace that actually helps your car unlike the front strut tower bar.

I've got the Spoon one off of ebay before for the same price as the neuspeed brace. It works great and really helps out. The only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that when you change your oil, the oil hits the brace and you got to wipe it off.

Personally, I would get used to the car in its stock form first and then change a few things along the way. I've heard a few people say that they longed for the stock set-up after changing it because it was more fun to drive because they felt they could "toss" it around more on the track.

You'll be a pretty damn good driver once you have gotten max performance from it out of the box.

There are times when I am on a road course that I wish I was still stock. If you go with a SC, be sure you have used some water wetter in the AC and a little in the radiator wouldn't hurt. R compounds will also make your day a little more fun.

I would suggest you get a copy of the rulebook first and see what you're allowed. Without knowing, you may end up in a class where you have no chance of being competitive.

Are you sure you want to do this? I love my S2K, however I dont think it is the best track car. This is only due to the power band (all on top). Start with a Mustang, a rule book and wisely spent cash for mods that matter only on the track. That way when you go thru the gravel pit you, and you will, you wont cry at the cost of the repairs. More Mustangs in the junk yard the S2Ks. This is important, trust me.

The S2000 was absolutely built for the race track and holds its own very well. It may not be the best at a professional level, but it does very well at the amateur level. On the race track, I can usually out-brake every car that is out there with me.

Plus, the Rustangs handles like complete s**t. If you go that route, you might as well spend everything just to upgrade the crappy suspension.

You are correct about the handling of the "Rustangs" ,can you say "Understeer". For an amateur understeer is normally easier to deal with then oversteer, S2K. I am going to love racing my S2k once I get used to it, (still coming out of the corners too slow). The only reason I suggested starting with a mustang is the replacement parts thing. I have been racing for too many years and understand that unplanned $$$ can end your racing career faster then getting hurt.
