s2000 Vs Other hondas
Just wondering if other hondas like the new integras have more power and quicker than an s2000... probably a dumb question..

i am not sure what u guys think, cause i didn't beleive that the rsx type s is faster than s2000 at the start like from 0-50km. but today i try one rsx type s seems to have more torque than my s2k. and people say that is because of the new ivtec. so i assume new cars with ivtec can be faster than s2000 as long as they have the same engine displacement? ~

0-50km? Huh? That's not even to the top of 2nd gear.
A properly modified RSX-S (Hondata, I/H/E) can readily keep up with a stock S2000 in a freeway roll. If launched properly, the S2K has a slight (RWD) advantage from a stop... IF launched properly. Take it to an autoX or a track and given equally experienced drivers, no contest, the S2K will have far higher exit speeds than the RSX. Given an unskilled driver, the S2K will spin out in every turn and end up being much slower. |

just another comparison.... how would an s2k go against a Mazda rx-8? the new one??? im having people trying to convince me that an s2k is not worth the money and for the same money i can go into an rx-8 and get better value there... your thoughts???

You have better value with the RX8 if a bigger boot and 4 seats matter to you.
But if your like single or have no children have an s2000. It's a convertible, sportier and is about a second quiker. The RX8 feels a bit cheap and there's to much designs and detail on the exterior and interior. I think the s2000 will age better. If you have a GT version of the s2000 it looks a bit like the RX8 but more subtle and it's for the better. Most people mistake this car for having only a 2000cc engine and no supercharger. The s2000 is quick but as you know you have to push it hard. I'd rather have a Nissan 350Z instead of an RX8 though. But the 350Z convertible is too heavy (+1500kg). |

RX-8 is definitely a better 'value' overall. The S2000 will outperform the RX-8 in a straight and on a track but the difference is not night and day. IMO, the 8 is a compromise that suits some people... pseudo sedan in sports car styling.
If I wanted 4 seats and 4 doors and performance, I'd choose the STi or Evo either of which will embarras the RX8 in any test of speed. But, I can see that some people just don't want to deal with the whole ricer culture around these cars and want something more grown up and comfortable like the RX8. The S2000 is a simple no-frills roadster. There is no substitute for having a convertible top... no amount of performance or practicality can make up for the feeling of driving with the top down. Personally I'll never put a hardtop on it. |
