tech info help!!!!

It's a early model 99 s2000. It's not smooth idleling, it almost sounds like it's misfiring at normal 1k rpm's. Most important it only gets to 3k rpm's then it starts having manifold problems. It starts poping in the manifold after 3k rpms like it had a vacumm leak or a head gasket problem. The intake manifold doesn't suck air in properly after 3k. Could it be the Varuable Timing Valve?? Please help??

Sounds like a spark issue. I'd check to plugs. Also my be a fuel issue. I would give it a through tune-up first. A fouled plug or a clogged fuel filter could be the problem. Also check the oil for contamination. Water or metalic particulate contamination would certainly be cause for concern.

If it still gives you trouble after the tune-up then check the compression.

Good Luck!

it sounds like one of ur cylinder is not firing up properly @@ ? maybe u can check the timing belt and spark plug also the wiring @@ .. but the idle speed part maybe u can start from cleaning the throtle valve and idle speed controller ? ~

Popping in the manifold? Do you mean detonation?

Anyway, it does sound like there is no ignition in one cylinder. Check the plugs, coils, wires and work your way backwards from there. Not sure if this applies to you but the pre 2002 S's had plugs that would back out of the head on their own... which would cause problems worse than what you're experiencing but might be related.
