About to buy an '00 model...
Hi all,
I'm about to buy an '00 model S2000 but I've just read in another post that the '00 model year is known to have problems with the #4 cylinder misfiring/failing. Is this something I should be worrying about or am I just worrying too much? Also are there any other things I should look out for? Its a 2000 model with 22,000 miles on the clock. |

Unfortunately, you are reading misfortunes from people who DO NOT check the oil in their S2. The S2000 like any other car will run forever as long as you TAKE CARE of it! I have been hearing about people blowing up their s2000 and the dealership always tells them the same thing,"The car was running low on oil". We need to keep in mind that on any HIGH output engine you will BURN oil! Majority of S2000 owners do not use their cars as a daily driver so they often do not see this problem coming. I have a friend with a 2000 that has about 60k on it and has not yet had any problems(he drives like a nut too!) I would suggest buying one that has its maintenance records. There is no way to be sure what can happen in any case. In this case you might want to go with a newer S2000 if you are worried.
I hope this helps in your decision. Let me know if you need more information. |

HALO
you can also message Halo. He is all over the forums and knows a lot of common problems with the S2000. I'm sure he wouldn't have any problems sending you the info.

Thanks for the replys guys,
Sounds like I was just worrying. Im used to checking the oil in my Prelude regularly so Im sure i'll be just fine with the S. Its amazing how little some people take care of their cars... |

I just got my 00' S2K with over 90,000 miles on it and it has great performance and got an A+ from my local mechanic. He has a client with an 04 with only about 10K on it and he cannot tell any difference between them. It does have it's hare of nicks and dings though. These do not bother me in the least as long as the drivetrain is clean. I do not beleive in driveway jewelry.
