Exhaust System
I love my S2000 but I don't believe it has the sound out the back that it should. Is there a great benefit to installing a catback system or are new mufflers the answer? What have you done? Also, my S2000 is an '04; is it just me or are there silencers inside those exhaust tips that can be removed?

So after reading some other previous posts on exhausts systems, it sounds like the Invidia would definitely give me the sound I'm looking for. I've done a little more research and was wondering if the Amuse R1 racing headers and full exhaust would be worth my time and money. Your input please. Thanks!

i guess just like what all the company say ... if u got the header or the exhaust, then use the same brand for the other cause it will look nice, fit better and greater performace @@

None of these bolt on exhausts do crap for HP in the real world. The manufacturers may post some BS numbers of a contrived test on their own dyno for 5hp (PEAK!) gain. These tests, no doubt, are totally biased with a worst-run stock compared to a best-run modded. But the gains they claim are within the "noise" of just running your car a few times on a dyno. When you see actual results of real cars in the real world, the gains are negligible, if any. Comptech is the only honest company since they don't claim bogus gains.

yea halo is rite. most bolt ons are crap but some are true to there word hks says there package will give a 9 hp incress thats total bulshit its just got hks logo and a nice sound if u want true jap style racing exhost the only way to go is js racing anf buddy who is spending 1300 on invidia sorry ur getting riped off i can get a invidia installed for 800 canadian and its way to loud i love loud but after a month of that shit its to loud and your basicly added attention to your car and no one wants that but if your one of those guys who are all show and no go get your invidia ul be sorry and you will be thinking o i should have gone wit js racing or spoon and js racing just came out wit dual exhost and il be putting that on but its less h/p because its dual but i liek the dual look but if u are a true builder you wont buy dual you will go one out but i like the dual look andyways invida, hks and all those bs companys dont give h/p gains but jsracing spoon and comptech give u noticable power gains around corners and power shifting

wow, I've used HKS for years on several cars and they DO produce power.
But according to you, sir, I guess I'll just group HKS together with APC, right? |

THe fact that an aftermarket exhaust produced power on other cars has no bearing at all on the F20c. This engine is producing 240 crank hp from 2L stock, that's not an accident. Air is flowing about as well as it can through this engine with the stock parts.
The only advantages to an exhaust would be weight savings (a single Ti exhaust can drop 50lb off the car), looks (nothing wrong with wanting to look good out there) and sound. I agree that the Invidia is a bit loud for daily use. But, compared to some Ti singles I've heard, it sounds like a bee farting |

you have good points to make halo!
the LAST thing I would want in an exhaust is the "bees stuck in a beer can" sound!!! I understand a little how this car was designed but I respect how much it has been fine-tuned! I was just speaking from experience with other applications of how HKS is a reputable company and does manke power on cars..... I, for one, never expect anything other than sound and looks from an exhaust unless I'm turbo..... |

damn it!! I hated whenever this topic show up, you people just don't get it. DO YOU ALL REALLY THINK BY ADDING AN EXHUAST SYSTEM WILL GAIN HP? Answere? YES. How much hp? NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU TO FEEL THE DIFFERENT. 2-5 hp gain is not enough to feel a different on a 240hp car, think about it.................... And definitely not enough hp gain to spent 750-1,000 USD. UNLESSSSSSSSSS, SOUNDDDDD is what you looking for, ACTUALLY SOUND AND LOOK WILL BE THE ONLY NOTICEABLE DIFFERENT.
Honestly, for 1,000 USD I recommend getting a fully adjustable COILOVER SYSTEM, it'll cost a little bit more, but belive me your money is well spent. Coilover will improve your handling and acceleration due to stiffer shocks and springs, not to mention they're fully adjustable from height to stiffness. I do agreed that the Invidia is loud, i'ved heard it, in my opinion Comptech has the best sound value!!!! GO TO THIS SITE AND DL THE DYNO VIDEO THIS S2000 SOUND LIKE AN F1 CAR. Like I said before, sound and look will be the only major gain. http://www.killer-f20c.com/exhaust.html |

well my main concern for exhaust on this car is sound and looks, and well....always price!
I think we can all agree the 2000 was well tuned by honda to begin with so added parts won't bring the same numbers as other cars. now also, are these small gains youre talking about....1-3 HP...measued as crank HP or WHP? b/c I would assume 1-3 WHP is 5-7 crank HP regained and 2-3% HP regained is normal for a a catback system. |

anyway if I would like to install a supercharger on my car in the future
I can't use the stock manifold and exhaust system could I? I think we can do better without S/c or turbo in terms of having less problems with our cars I personally prefer a toda stroker kit drdre1443 I couldn't be quite agree with you sir there is always better and human being is searching for it |

damn it people think before you answere!!!!
HKS is not like APC, their product do offer gain of HP, BUTTTT, when you talking about s2000, power gain from cat-back system are very limited, regardless of brand, and we all know this, Right? we have to keep in mind that the s2000 is tweak to almost it max, unless we go F/I, adding parts that normally would gain HP in regular car will not get you far in the HP chart. Howerver, cat-back and header will give gain if you go F\I along with it to complement the F\I. and turk to answere your question, NO I do not have an S2000, however i'll will get one very soon, around this month. I'll post picture when I get my s2000. I know I do not own an s2000, but i've been waiting 3 years for it and i'ved done extensive research, beside owning one, I can guaranteed you TurK that I know more about the s2000 than most of the owner does, and also being a mechanic help a lot too. I'm not saying I know everything and I don't want to offend anyone, but with these subject I do have extensive knowledge about it. |
