Well since they are illegal, then why do companies like comptech say it will not violate the warranty. Also, isn't it on the SEMA site that the dealer cannot violate my warranty unless the aftermarket product is the thing that is causing problems with my car. Also, I have read that the comptech kit is carb legal which makes it street legal here in california. Since the comptech kit can be directly bought from a honda dealer, I believe that they will not void the warranty since it is their mechanics that are installing rather than a car shop that may screw up the engine or am I wrong?

of course! I think he was referring to the workmanship warranty since the dealership would do the install.

Both SC kits available for the S2000 are street legal. The Comptech has the CARB cert number stamped right into the bracket that holds the compressor.

As far as warranty goes, there is SO much BS floating around about this you would need a skip loader to move it all away. The short answer is that no matter who installs your SC, you can kiss the warranty on your drivetrain goodbye.

The long answer: The way the law is written on car modification and warranty, the factory cannot refuse a warranty claim if the modification didn't cause the failure. However, there is an ENORMOUS grey area here. The factory simply says "sorry, the supercharger, because of (fill in the blank) caused the failure of (fill in the blank). Now, there's obviously some stuff that would be more directly related to the SC (basically anything in the drivetrain). But, what's to stop the factory from saying, "sorry buddy, the electrical part failed because of the modification to the FPR that is part of the SC kit" What then? How do you MAKE them pay? Call a lawyer? For a couple of hundred bucks? Arbitration? Meanwhile, what are you going to drive?

Keep in mind that no matter what a 'dealer' tells you, they do not honor the warranty, Honda NA does. The dealer could theoretically cover your ass by filing a claim that might have been caused by the SC and not reporting to Honda that you have the SC but then they'd be commiting fraud against the company that supplies their product... probably not a wise move.

So, either forget about the warranty of you go SC, or wait until it expires so it's not an issue.

Apart from that, Comptech has a 2 year parts warranty on their stuff. Whoever installs it may also give you a warranty on the installation.
