Question Why is it ap1>ap2????

Why are most people calling out the ap2? Whats wrong with it? Isnt it all the same with a few differences a couple exterior work and like over-steer fix and all? Saw this quite a few times on here and im trying to buy an ap2. Would be great to know why a lot of you think ap1 is better than ap2. In what way?

For the same reason some people think white cars are better than black cars...

Suspension is a little softer. I've owned both and would say the suspension is a bigger difference than the motor, which also changed. AP2 has a noticeable improvement in torque, but nothing to write home about.

The AP1 has a firmer suspension, and is a bit more edgy. Most of the daily driving time... I like the AP2 better. But when I'm really winding it up on the corners, I miss my AP1.

They're both wonderful cars... and never let anyone tell you different.

I'm with you there. I bought my '02 last June and thought I got a great deal at $17K with only 27K miles. Prices have dropped a ton. I'm still a happy Old Man.

Put it this way.. I have yet to find anyone who owns an AP1 to say they want an AP2... (even though they swap to our bumpers and headlights), and I have yet to find anyone who owns an AP2 and wants to go to a AP1. Whatever you end up getting is the better one basically lol.

How about this AP1=AP2. These are both great cars. Whichever one you get you will definitely by happy with it. Yes there were changes made to the car but trust me NO ONE here is saying they wish they didn't get there S. Get what you can afford and you will be very happy you did it.

I recommend against red. I'm so tired of women flashing their boobs as I drive by..
Doh! That was Jag!

OP! get the least beat, unmolested car you can find for the lowest price and you will be very happy. I don't care if it's an AP7!

Does anyone have concrete evidence of faster lap times in either car? Hard to come up with. Both cars would need to be unmodified. Trade drivers..I doubt it has been done.
I did read the article about the journalist that went round the track with the old dude who designed the cars in an AP2. The designer seemed happy with the changes. Forget his name dangit.

Thanks, great advice. Is it considered "fake" if i change the headlights and tailights and bumper of an ap1 to make it look like an ap2? lol.

OK..crossed wires. I thought you were saying motor trend did a comparo. I was asking the outcome of the comparo..
I went to motor trend and dug around. No comparo but it was fun reading the first look articles and such. Didnt see the other article though.

Curiosity on my part is all. I go through the twisties and straights in my AP2 with AP1's and you cant tell one from the other.
After all the reading I been doing on all the forums since 07 I don't think a real proper lap time comparison has ever been done. Guessing it never will be done either. Too many variables anyway.

I do feel the difference when I drive an AP1. If you went into the corner at the same speed as you would with an AP2, the rear would slide. It feels like the rear breaks loose more on an AP1. Maybe, it's the suspension set up. I don't feel any difference power wise though.
