Parking Break sticking?

I know this is probably posted somewhere else on this site, but i could not find it in the search. I have found that my parking break is sticking. The dealer told me too "get up to 40 miles per hour, then slowly engage the parking break" to get all the rust off of it (it had sat on the lot for a while). It still hasnt resolved. It squeaks when going from slow to stop at lights, and from stop to slow leaving lights. I also smell something burning every now and then coming from the rear wheels. This cant be good. I have scheduled a service for thursday morning.

has anyone else had a similar experience?

dude, I'm sorry....seems like you got multiple problems with your 2000 already... I hope everything goes ok with you!

Only smell I get is burnt clutch

why not just take the plates out and grind it ? it will shorten the life of the plate but its good, u r break will be like new... unless the problem is u r pad ...

I think the calipers are sticking. I would take them out, clean and lube them myself, but I don't want to risk voiding my Certified Warranty. They said brakes were covered under the warranty, so I will let them screw with it. If my rotors are fried, I may get a new pair out of them (the burning smell).
