more good news from a dealership!

WOW! I got a call today from my service rep. at hendrick honda.

She told me while they were replacing my torn plastic window that they replaced my driver's side window regulator b/c the window does not go down all the way when the top lowers.

Also, I complained about that "clutch buzz" problem while decelerating from about 5000 down to 2500 RPM's. The service tech thought it was a R&R and he found that the pressure plate was bad and replaced it. when the service lady found out, she said, "oh well, no sense in removing the good part now and replacing it with a broken one"

so my 1100 dollar extended warranty had netted me about 3000 dollars in savings so far, including a rental for 3 days. It's always fun to beat the crap out of a company car!

what was up with the rear window? Did it tear, or just cloudy? The rear window on my '00 is almost completely white. I think my dealer is going to replace it, because it is kind of a safety hazard at night. I am pretty sure they are thinking that they shoulda replaced it prior to putting the car up for resale. The car had also sat on the lot for almost 5 months. Also, what is up with the clutch buzz? When I decelerate in any gear, from any RPM higher than 3000, the transmission is MUCH louder than when mild gas is applied. Is this the buzz you are talking about?

yeah my window was kinda cloudy.....not bad in the day but horrible at night!

yeah I had the same buzz that you have. It's the pressure plate wearing out. It's not something that will really cause any significant damage, it's more of a annoyance issue

apparently the sticking parking brake fixed itself.... The buzz they said is normal, because I am now sitting 6" from the transmission. They said the techs drive between about 10 S-2000's / day and they said it was normal. As far as the roof goes, I was supposed to hear back from the dealer yesterday, but he never called. I will drop a line today. The problem is there is really only 1 convertible shop in town, and they have kinda cornered the market. They said that they cannot fix just the window, and it will have to be a $2000 top. I decided I am not going to do it myself, because I do not want to risk screwing it up anymore. If push comes to shove, I will ask the shop how much if I buy the materials ($850 from hardtopguy) and they do just the labor. Cant be more than a few hundred dollars, as opposed to the $2000 they want.

I'd check the Florida Panhandle forums on S2ki. Here:
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=124

I bet there's someone on that forum that's done the top swap or can give you some advice for who can install it for less.

ok I picked up my 2000 today! and the plastic is sooooo clear!

It IS POSSIBLE to replace just the plastic piece. obviously, a mechanic can do it, not just an upholstery shop. don't let the shop tell you the plastic can't be replaced.

also, that noise is NOT normal. Honda didn't design it, so why would it be normal? If you really want the noise to go away, replace your pressure plate. A tranny shop shouldn't charge more than 150 to do so.

I have a correction to make!

while reading ovewr my paperwork, in the tech's notes and later at the end of the paperwork is was stated they didn't replace the pressure plate, they replaced the clutch disc.

regardless, the noise is gone!

What's the longest time and mileage warranty one can buy from Honda?
Not the aftermarket X-10-dead warranty, but the Honda warranty?
