S2000 - and nos kits.... good idea?
Here's the thing... I was beat today by and M3. Not cool. I want more power and most bang for the buck. But I love my car and wouldn't want to blow er up! I'm not running any kind of forced induction just minor stuff. Intake, exhaust, possibly a VAFC2, but not installed yet. I just removed it from my prelude. But i rode in a friends volvo with NOS and wow!!! what a kick that is... If i only run up to a 50HP shot do you think I could still be reliable and not have too high combustion issues???? I don't wanna lose to these 350z's and M3's anymore.

Rule #1 is that someone will always be faster.
That said, one option is to just jump way up the food chain and get a liter sport bike. At least up to the low 100s miles per hour almost nothing will touch you. If you want to stay on 4 wheels, I really don't think the S is the best platform for blowing people away in the street. In that case, I'd think seriously about a Z06 and modding it. A 50 shot won't put you in M3 territory (I'm assuming you mean E46 M3). Even SC'd with an added 100 whp I am no faster than a stock SMG M3 from 20 to 120. However, you should be within a car length of stock 350Z (again, up to about 120mph). Perhaps some practice doing runs at various speeds might be of use. The obvious stuff: remove all the crap from you car you don't need, top up, windows up, no passenger. |

I think the cheapest possible option to go very quik like in ferrari territory is to buy a lotus elise 111r with the toyota engine and tune it with a chip, cold air intake, exhaust.
Or you can buy an ariel atom wich is as fast around a track as a ferrari enzo! Mind that it hasn't got any roof, doors but only the basics that make a car drive and streetlegal, allthough i'm not sure it's legal in all countries. Both cars are somewhere in the same budget. Here's the link of the ariel atom: http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/ |

Remember the farther ya get from factory stock, the less reliable ya get. NOS would be my last resort, and then, only if I had the patience and skills to rebuild my s2000 motor. Everyone I know with NOS seems to be rebuilding their engines. When I think sportscar, it think of driver skill within that class. When I think Muscle car, I think of who's got the most money to stretch the distance from factory stock. |

If the NOS system is setup correctly there should not be a problem. Most problems arise due to the fact people are trying to increase the amount of NOS without making the necessary mods to the engine.
A 50HP shot should be fine. When you go above that you have to start thinking about addtional fueling, ecu etc. PS: a "wet" kit NOS setup is better than a dry setup. |

Nope, with 100 additional whp, we are just barealy in stock E46 M3 category in acceleration... so low 13s @108 or thereabouts.
The thing I've posted before, but I will again, is that PEAK hp claims can be very misleading. Sure, my SCd car makes 300 whp but it does this for only an instant before redline. The M3 has a much flatter torque curve which more than makes up for the added weight. My point being, someone will always be faster. |
