Boot Cover Problem
I upgraded from a 2001 model to a 2005. The 01 had the plastic rear window and the boot cover fit like a glove. On the new 05 model with the glass rigid window the boot cover fits just fine. I can tuck in the tabs at the back and it appears to be fine. However after even a short drive the tabs have popped out and the back of the cover is no longer tucked it. Is there a trick that I am missing?
Thanks, Mark (mkraft@columbus.rr.com) mks2k |

Heheh - you actually use it?
Don't know. The fact you were able to successfully put on the older boot seems to indicate you know what you are doing. I know on the later models of the cover were re-designed (less latches?) but I'm pretty sure this was early on (eg 01 or 02 = new design). Sometimes the latches can pop back out whilst you are still installing it. What order do you clip it on? Try keeping the sides folded in, clip the middle on and then fold out the sides and clip them on last, see if that makes a difference. |

Matt,
You are correct the 01 cover has 4 metal buttons on it whereas the 05 only has two. I have no problem connecting them. They are tight, but I know with time they get easier, but that is not the problem It is on the back side where the two black plastic guides pop out. Mark |

Heh, I never use mine either. Just too much hassle when I want to put the top up.
But, the move to a glass rear window eliminated the metal tabs in the middle because they would rub on the glass, so I can understand why the cover doesn't stay put as well. |
