vtec

I just bought an 2002 s2k and I was wondering what the VTEC is supposed to feel like? It seems to kick in at 6k rpm, but I don't feel a big punch? It's more of a smooth power kicking in. Can anybody help? Is that normal, or could my VTEC be bad or beaten by the previous owner.
Thanks

It is fine. The VTec is there. It is just that the s2k is more finely tuned than the integra or prelude, so there isn't a big notice of when the vtec kicks in, if you were to dyno your car and an integra, you'd see the bigger dip in the integra dyno when vtec kicks in as opposed to the smoother dyno line you would have.

Take the topplastic cap from your airntake off and drive that way, then you'll notice the change of note of the engine.
It's not a common problem that a v-tec shouldn't work.
