Without gettin' nuts
If anyone's already done the homework, wouldja mind if I looked over your shoulder? I don't feel like re-inventing the wheel so if anyone's already cracked the books (catalogs) I'd appreciate the benefit of your knowledge. Without adding a supercharger, turbo or nitrous, what's thought to be the best combination of equipment (aftermarket or Honda) to get the most efficient runnin' naturally aspirated S2?
I'm also told that somebody's makin' a carbon fibre hardtop but ain't havin' much luck locatin' 'em. All help appreciated, thanx muchly. |

to keep it NA and if u got the $$
1. weight reduction (carbon parts, lighter wheel, remove a/c etc) 2. racing valve and related paerts, cam shaft and perhaps psitons if their is one@@? 3. new clutch, and differencial (two kinds top speeed or response), transmission for more effcient power deliver 4. full exhaust + intake (some intake give u negative hp) 5. ground wire, stablizer, etc.... 6 whatever u can think off beside sc or turbo ps. i think i am the only who might reply to this kind of question ... @@ |

Ummmm . . I was thinkin' more in terms of fuzzy dice. No. Actually I'm still pretty thrilled with the stock system all around. I'm not lookin' to get into the innards of the engine or anything that elaborate. What I was lookin' for was more like a "brand X exhaust system flows better than the rest of the aftermarket stuff and brand K has a cold-air intake system that gets the most air down the little beast's gullet" . . or somethin' along those lines anyway.
But wowowox, just for playin' n' not to go home empty handed, we've got this really nice set of steak knives for you. Many thanks, really appreciate your input. |

Weight reduction can be a cheap mod, by simply removing items from the car. Here is an extreme example:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=776885 The standard dual exhaust is quite heavy. Even with the best aftermarket exhaust you would be struggling to get more than +5 HP. Look for a lightweight single exhaust (eg T1R) Air intake - most people seem to prefer the AEM v2. An aftermarket engine management computer (eg AEM EMS, Greddy emanage etc) may give you a slight improvement also, but gains are minimal if you don't have some forced induction. I wouldn't bother with those "grounding wire" gimmicks. |

JJ. Two words.
Spoon Mugen Possibly the best two suppliers of performance parts for the S2000. Air intake, Exhaust, ECU etc Changing them will give HP gains but only small ones and the cost is very high. There's not much juice to be squeezed out of this engine that Honda haven't already got out of it. I mean 120bhp per litre. |

Thanx fletch. I sprang for the denaro to pick up the S2 because I'm not at a point of my life that's allowin' me to hot-rod somethin' to do the job n' the S2 was the closest thing to what I wanted for a ride. I'd've preferred a hardtop, but I seem to be bearin' up under my ride bein' a convertible. (But maybe I should reserve judgement until after a winter. I keep havin' flashbacks to some rather user-unfriendly moments with the combination of nasty winters n' my old Healey)
But I figured that in it's naturally aspirated state it'd be pretty much like the bikes at the track: you can get the same results outa an investment of $750 worth of light-weight, unobtanium replacement parts as you can outa skippin' a few meals. Didn't figure on any surprises. But it never hurts to get a 2nd opinion. Thanx muchly, and may your days be clear and the twisty road ahead void of all traffic. |

Thank you too sir.
I'm guessing you haven't got the hardtop kit for the S? It is nice for the winters. To add it, after market, costs around ?1500 over here, IIRC. |

Redo your fuel system. Vtec uses alot of fuel and if you give it more you can gain some power. pump, fpr, injectos and rail. intake, exhaust, cams, and all you other goodies.

Huh? Just adding more fuel will make the mixture richer. Exactly how does that 'gain some power.'? |

Well, Halo . . I guess the secret's out. They found out about the factory racin' Diamond Reo injectors used in conjunction with the Rolls-Cunnardly evaporator brackets. The factory's not gonna be pleased.
