ahahah of course they should admit that it is called reality, I can even beat Z4 3.0 at top speed ,in 400metres, at 0-100km acceleration only cornering of Z4 and handling is a little bit better than us, it is not a problem though I love my drift machine |

We drove both on the same day before deciding which to buy. My wife thought the Z4 was too "soft" in the corners. She called the Z4 a luxury car and the S2000 a drivers car. The Z4 does have a reputation of having a light rear end with controll problems on cornering.
ps>> she called the Miata a "girls car"! |

You're given three options:
a "lowly" Miata, a bus stop, or, mommy and the minivan. All of a sudden the Miata reaches a new level of appreciation. C'mon guys. No, it ain't an S2, but everything has it's place. |

You bet. There was a time, (not so long ago) that I would have killed for a Miata('

Miata's are nice and can be VERY quick in the hands of a good driver. Many do VERY well at autoX events when driven properly.

miatas are QUITE the capable car, and can be made REAL fast with very little $. I LOVE my S, but its SO expensive to make faster. The miata offers more range because its compression is lower. Hell, there is even a crate V8 that can be crammed under the hood that is good for 400hp. (Same one Ford retrofitted for the Focus V8 show car). Kinda screws up the balance, but Jackson Racing and Racing Beat all have TONS of stuff for that little thing. I just wish there was more stuff (that is affordable.....not $1000+ for a comptech exhaust) for the S.

Lets not forget the S starts at 240 hp. I don't know why people are still surprised that it is expensive to make more power from the F20c. It already has a lot of go-fast mods, STOCK. It is not the car to buy to cheaply mod for F&F street racing, then again neither is the Miata.
The cost of mods generally go up as the cost of the car. A chip alone for an AMG MB can run in thousands. That said, the Comptech exhaust is worth every penny. It is not some cheap Chinese knock-off, with magnaflows welded to some random pipes. The thing fits together like you'd expect for that price. The finish looks as beautiful as the day I bought it. |

That Comptech exhaust . . how loud izzitt compared to stock?
I don't mind if leaves, n' small animals get sucked into my wake, but I'd prefer not to otherwise advertise that I'm comin', there, or I've been there. |

I won't lie, it's louder than I'd like, but that is subjective. It is far quieter than the Invidia or any single I've heard. It is definitely not for long 70+miles per hour drives on rolling terrain because it will drone, especially on climbs.
Though loud, the tone is perfect. Not raspy like some Civic fart can. Check out http://www.s2000library.com/ for some samples. Best is to hear it firsthand of course. |

if you are looking for an impressive sound without any money, just remove the cover to the air box. Replace the filter with a cleanable K&N, and you have an almost 350Z-ish growl under acceleration. If you are looking for stuff, go to www.s2ki.com it is a more active board than this one, with more resources. By removing the air box, performance will degrade a bit in hot weather, as the air will be coming in from above the radiator, but it is nothing that you can really feel. If you are really staunch about performance, just get a CAI. I got an INJEN from a member on s2ki for $150 shipped to my front door. Comes in tomorrow. Should sound great, and with a bypass valve, hydolocking is not a problem.

Thanx jwa, but I've always looked dimly at anything that took my performance in the wrong direction, whatever the climate . . n' for a "sound"? Nah, thanx, but no thanx. My concerns over sound are in the opposite direction. If I could make the car silent (n' invisible) I would. But, even those benefits, if they took anything away from my perfornance, would be unacceptable.
Thanx for the suggestion and the info on the other site though. But, as everything is a balance, I've always felt that you've gotta have all the options before you can make the best choices to wind up where you wanna be, (in this case "Stew-wize") so I really do appreciate your offerin' me your suggestion. It's jus' not for me. Good luck with your new INJEN, n' keep us posted on how it works out. That's what this place is all about, ain't it? Be well. |
