clutch replacement question

i have been looing at different forums for advice as to what i should replace my stock clutch with. i want a clutch that is a little stronger than the stock clutch so i can spin tires from the start in a straight line. i have heard that the stage 1 or stage 2 clutches have a tendancy to ruin the rear diff. does anyone have a suggestion as to what i should be looking into buying.

p.s. i heard something about a stock clutch with a stronger pressure plate might be the way to go......... does this make any sense?

It ain't written in stone, 'cause I've been away from turnin' wrenches for some time now, but it seems to me (if it's true) that the Stage 1 and 2 move the weakest link to the rear differential, and you're not prepared to deal with havin' to replace the rear differential, you might jus' wanna stick with the stock clutch assembly. You let the least expensive n' most easily replaced piece take the abuse.

I agree with Java on this one. The clutch should be the weakest link. Far cheaper to replace than a rear end. If you upgrade the diff, you'll just move the weak link to the drive shafts and on down the line.

Maybe leave doing burnouts to the 60s muscle cars with built rear ends?
