counter sunk shift knobs VS. cutting and rethreading?
so i just picked up my s2 about a month ago and i cant get over this shifter. shat it likes driving a semi truck's shifter. this thing is higher than the roof :P ok jk
so in my prelude and in my g, i have my shifter sit low. i noticed there was this good thread on s2ki about it. but has anyone cut and rethreaded there oem shifter to sit lower? pro's and con's are much welcomed. |

You think that's a bad thing in a sports car?
In a rally or racing car it sits even higher, close to the steering wheel for quik shifting. |

Sin;
My first concern would be lessening the present leverage that the stick length gives you. It possible could translate into missed shifts. I'm not sayin' that it definitely would be a problem, but, it might be a problem. I'd give it considerable thought before I started alterin' it. Good luck either way. |

i am up in the air about it, but i just wanted to get some feed back on it. I actually did it on my prelude. with a b&m full short shifter kit. it runs fine but like you said it is really easy to miss shift.

I've driven a lot of cars, and no shifter comes even close to the S2000's. IMO the position could not get any better. You can do whatever you want to your car, but why mess with a good thing? It's not your little brother's Civic, the transmission tunnel dictates the location. Maybe your arms are too short??

i think u r best bet is to get a cunter sunk ones instead of cutting it and shorten it, conside the quality and time, if u really want it low maybe get a aftermarket

A counter sunk knob you can always try out and if you don't like it, replace it with the standard one again.
If you cut the shifter and stuff it up, there is no going back. |

We offer a range of solid spherical countersunk knobs at reasonable prices.
Our shift knobs all feature a set screw in the stem to make aligning the shift pattern easy and without the need for thread tape, loctite and other 'fixes'. http://www.prestigeautoaccessories.com/ ![]() http://www.prestigeautoaccessories.com/ |
