is there a way i can still use the radio controls with an aftermarket radio?

I have read on other sites that this is possible. I believe that Alpine units (your HU is alpine in the S) would be the most likely compatible? I am trying to research the same info. I have looked into the Alpine 9815. Great reviews from others. It comes with it's own remote but the dash controls are ideal.
