Honda S2000 and Quality
Have my S2000 now since almost 2 months.... (new 2005 model in Blue - Blue interior)
Dispite loving the car a lot and having great fun with it I see 2 problems: 1. There is a slight shifting problem when shifting from 1st into 2nd and 2nd into 3rd gear... the gearbox is not working as perfect as in the other gears. 2. On the right back of the car the bumper is not 100% perfect fit with the light and the chassis. My honda dealer told me that both thing's are normal... even looked at some other new model's that they have... the all seem to have the same issue (point 2). Did anyone have similar experience...Would also be interested in buying a different exhaust (to imporve the sound... any recommendations).. Thank's in advance and best wishes from sunny north carolina |

Before buying a new exhaust try just removing the resonator from the existing system and see what you think of that sound. It is quite inexpensive, and if you don't like it you can always get your new exhaust afterwards.

Re: Honda S2000 and Quality
Helmut,
I've had my 2005 S2000 for two weeks, and I have the same issue with the bumper and right taillight fit. Over the last week or so the fit has gotten worse, and the car is at the dealership today being looked at. I'll let you know what they determine. They suspect a clip has come loose or fallen off. i think for the gear problem there is no fix, b/c everyone is having the same prolbem. however, some say that they change the transmission fluid the problem is gone. but since you only had your car for only 2 month, you have to be patient, alot of the problems gradually decrease once the break-in period is over. i mean as the break in period goes by the problem gets better.

Re: Honda S2000 and Quality
Any idea what your tech tweaked? I've got the same problem on mine.
I looked at nine (9) brand new 2005's at a local dealer and most of them had an alignment issue with the right rear. Go figure. Thanks. -- Patrick Quote:

Bumper mis-Fit
I have a 3 month-old 2005 s2k and have the same issue with the right rear bumper. For those who have had this repaired by their dealer, did they acknowledge a manufacturing defect or did they charge you for the work done?

2005 quality.
I just purchased a 2005 3 weeks ago. Had the same problem with the misaligned right side rear bumper/tail light. Took it back to the Honda dealer and they fixed it perfectly for me under warranty. It now looks like a Honda should. I also have the same balking shift into 2nd gear when cold. Have noticed that as soon as the engine is warmed so that you can rev up to 4k the shifts are smooth. Slowing the shift when cold helps some, double clutching eliminates it altogether. I only have 700 miles on my S2000 so I am hoping this gets better with some more break-in time. I love the car, it is everything I hoped it would be!
