On Losin' Yer Cherry
So, I've done my homework, found a spotless '04 with only 2000 miles on it n' flawless credentials. I'm drivin' aroun' in my own S2 instead of weaslin' rides in those that I've talked friends into.
Yesterday we had a "storm" (now-you-see-it-now-you-don't kinda thing) blow through in the end of yesterday afternoon. Blew down some minor branchs n' lo n' behold . . I go out n' my new toy has a dent in the driver's side rear quarter. It appears 'at a 5 pound branch came down n' put a dimple in what used ta be the sexy curve of the Hondas rump. Well, I shouldn't be surprised right? It's almost 3 weeks old. But it does take care of the concerns over when that first ding was gonna come along. Ah well . . I'll go for a ride. That'll make me feel better. Be well. |

Have you looked into paintless dent repair/removal?

No, well, not other than my own hand at it anyway. It ain't a big dent, but it does appear to be just beggin' to jus' be popped back out in the original direction. Since it's fresh I'm thinkin' that the paint'll be more willin' to remain in place if the original convex curve is restored rather than it's present concave state.
Before anyone starts thinkin' that I'm an old tin-knocker, I ain't. Old maybe, but I've pushed stuff like this back into shape before. But usually on older stuff that wasn't pristine except for the ding I was tryin' to fix. That fact gives this attempt a certain amount of weight that I've never hadda deal with before. I figure tomorrow, without the aid of stimulants, I'll work up the nerve to belly up to the bar n' give it an honest attempt. If it goes bad you'll no doubt hear the cries of anguish without the aid of the computer. Trust me, I'll keep ya posted. N' thanx for the suggestion Matt. A damn good diagnosis considerin' the vague description I posted. |

Okay. The determination is that I either spend the denaro to get a pro on it, or whenever my ride fills out any forms it's gonna hafta make an entry in the "identifying marks" column.
It wasn't the finest of posteriors but I was growin' rather fond of it. The ding's gonna be around for awhile. 'Pity, that. |
